New Lap-Band Board Just Formed!

Recommended Posts

Just curuious...why did you start a new group? And, did this one not meet your needs? And, isn't it a little ackward (sp.) advertising it on another lapband board? Seems a little weird to me. This one is so comprehensive I can't help but wonder why you are doing this?

To answer your question, there was a lot of drama, attacking and provocation taking place on an other board I belong to, and many folks were leaving. Before starting the new forum, which is a new alternative, not a replacement for any other forum, I posted and asked if there was any interest in it, and received an overwhelming response.

You asked if this board would fill the need, and to be honest I have used this board in the past and found a lot of the same here on different threads. Just my opinion.

Well, this isn't a "private club" for members only. We're all out here to get info and be supportive. I don't care whether I do it here or elsewhere. We should embrace anyone and everyone. Good luck on your endeavor, Ron!

I just visited your site and I'm confused about something...folks over there are talking about how excited they are to be on a drama-free board and whatnot. What drama? I've lurked here forever before I finally signed up after my surgery back in January. I've never seen anything horrible enough to cause the creation of an entire new site. Plus...a little drama is everywhere if the posters on your site are referring to receiving a disagreement now and then with a statement they've made. That's not horrible...that's human nature. It will happen on your board eventually as it grows also. You aren't free from "drama" anywhere in life. That's just my 2 cents as well. Good luck to ya, though! You website looks good.:)

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I see what you mean by drama from another posters comments to me about a "private club". Don't exactly know where that came from; but I do see what you mean!

I don't think he was really referring to LBT as having all the drama...there is another "Well-Known Website" with forums for all kinds of bariatric surgeries, and their lap band forum is famous for its "drama" and negativity...I recognize Ron from there, and he's a good guy, he wouldn't post this here if he didn't think people would be genuinely interested.

Personally, I think it's great that there are lots of different options out there for people. The more info, the better. Of course, not all of the info you get on forums like this is really accurate or necessarily even helpful, but if you can pick through it all and find the gems, I think these places help people a lot. Good luck on the new forum, Ron!

I've seen drama - but it's between 3 LBTrs and their 'fake' profiles. I just laugh and move on. No drama on the real threads. Why would anyone leave LBT?!

I tried to create a new account on the other forum, but I gave it five different user names and it says each one was already used. I doubt it. Can't make it work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
