My first experience Sliming

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am in this now. I am fasting today as its Ash Wednesday, so, went and got a smoothie, the ones I was drinking during my preopt phase. I guess that I drank it too fast, because I started sneezing, and slime, and lots of it, came out of my nose and mouth. Its just hanging in there now. It really is slime. Its clear, not the color of the smoothie, but thick. I have to keep clearing my throat to get it up, like when you have a sore throat.

Gee thanks. That sound, and slime is always sexy. lol Especially when you are sitting in your office with a tissue over your face.....

I had a conference call to take and I had to mute it every five seconds for the clearing of my throat sound. But now, all is good. But wow, a bad 45 minutes for a smoothie. Can't imagine if I had some food doing that to me.

I've slimed once, it was before my fill. I was eating shrimp, pretty sure I shouldn't do that again. I started hiccuping really bad and stuff. I was in a restaurant with my man sitting across from me. He just told me to tell him if he needed to duck:tongue:

Well last night, had 5 oz of fish and 1 cup of steamed green Beans, ate slow and purposefully, and was still hungry. Had 2 slices of cheese and 6 crackers. Still hungry. So went to work on my computer, and wound up eating about 6oz of a 8oz package of licorice jelly Beans near my computer that my friend eats. Was still hungry, so then realized what the hell I had put in and attributed it to head hunger.

But seriously, why didn't I feel the pressure and sliming effect I had earlier in the day from a smoothie?

Now today, have had a mashed banana and 1/4c of cottage cheese, and two Decaf teas, and I am full. Go figure......

I had a sliming episode today too. I think!!! I was eating tuna with a bit of mayo and I must have swallowed too much too quick. Anyway, the hic-ups started and the food felt lodged in my chest (not stomach) and I went to get a small sip of Water as I felt I needed something to force it down. That made things worse. I felt like I was choking, but my lungs were clear. Then I had to run to the bathroom. I thought I was going to throw up, but instead was projectile clear slime. It was gross...And was the strangest thing ever. It was clear and heavy. Not the consistency of water and no food in it. What is it??? Sorry for the gross description, but I really can't imagine what it was coming up...Anyone know???

Sliming is when you bring up really heavy, thick saliva, and it strings out of you, makes you want to cough and blow your nose. I have been told its a precursor to PB. (Productive Burping)

It happened to me when I drank my smoothie too fast, and it happened to NukeChik when she probably ate too big a piece of shrimp.

oh boy....not looking forward to that!!!!! I use to have a growy/sist<?> on my esgothis<?> that would cause me to choke, just before my stomach. I would have to get it back upby trying to throwup. I had that fixed about 5 years ago and it has been great. Don't really want to start that again.

Is it all caused by eating too much or too fast?

I didn't really eat too big of a piece of shrimp, it was just overdone and really rubbery and I didn't get it chewed up enough. Shrimp is really hard to get to band consistency, I'm probably going to avoid it from now on. I still have problems avoiding "inhaling" my food!!

BTW if you feel like you have something "stuck" taking a drink of liquid is the WORST thing you can do. I know it is your first instinct, but avoid it at all costs!! Trust me on this one.

I keep thinking that I can eat steak.. and i am NOW positive that it will no longer be part of my diet again.. the pain that I feel now and I cannot even keep liquids down.. what I need to know is where does all this Mucous come from! I feel like something that you need to call Ghostbusters on! here is the good part .. i will be back on liquids for at least another 24 -48 hours , which i will no doubt be able to drop another two pounds. it is a vicious thing.

Hmm Slime.

Unlike you lucky people, the slime is at least a once a week occurrence for me. I am actually pretty used to it by now.

Yes before you ask, I know I must be doing something wrong for this to happen so often, but I have always been heavy on the saliva. Most of the time I can get to the bathroom in plenty of time, but not always.

I was ridding back from lunch in a buddies car and had a bad experience. I had PB'ed at lunch before leaving, but apparently I wasn't done.

Thank God it was a Rental and he was returning it that day.

I have unfortunately had the experience of sliming while driving, yuckkkkk. It doesn't happen much anymore now that I am a veteran bandster, it is easier to avoid.

I can eat steak but it helps if it is cooked medium and it is a really great cut, like filet mignon. I have replaced quantity with quality post banding, lol.

yeah there is nothing more exciting than pulling over on the side of the road because your happy meal did not pass through the band. this is why i do not eat in my car anymore and if i do..... i keep a cannister close by.. ok.. all of this is not sexy.. but my new body IS!!!!!

I dont eat in the car either for that exact reason. It was bad enough the other night when the sliming continued after I left the restaurant while I was driving. Thankfully there was a coffee cup in my console from Ewan's morning milo before school.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
