7 Days Post-Op, WOW!!!

Recommended Posts

I am 7 days post-op and hoping to be encouragement for those of you waiting to have surgery or just a couple of days post-op. I feel great, no soreness from the incisions and all the gas pain is gone. I did get tired rather quickly while getting ready for my Drs. appt. It was the extra time and strength to blow dry my hair and style it and apply make-up. Haven't done that for 8 days. I am 12lbs down from the morning of surgery, which is 23lbs down total since starting the liquid diet. My first few days were ROUGH but now I know it was so worth it!Good luck to all and I wish you much success!!

Congratulations, jst4kel

I had my surgery on the 25th. I too, am feeling great. Saturday and Sunday were very rough for me and I thought "what the hell have I done to myself". I am feeling better and I believe I made the right decision. I am down 12 lbs. since surgery.

How soon were you back to work? I am so worried about my time because I unexpectedly had my gall bladder taken out on Jan 6 and only have 37 hours left. I am hoping that four days out will be enough. With my g/b surgery I went back on the 14th, a lot sore, but I made it. I am hoping that the lap band isn't as bad as having an organ removed. :frown:

I had surgery on Friday, January 25th, and was off Monday and Tuesday of the next week. I went back on Wednesday, I do have a desk job though. I thought it would be hard and I would be exausted and I did fine. Good Luck to you!

Thanks for the real words. I have been scared how I will feel afterwards since I have only had one surgery in my life and I felt like a mac truck hit me. All my paperwork is done just waiting on insurance. I think this is the worst part.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
