Nauseated

I need help!!! Ok, here's my story, I was banded 6-19-07. Ok, I have lost about 35 lbs but I don't give all the credit to the band seeing how I have absolutely NO restriction. Ok, here's where my trouble begins, about 3 weeks ago, and after about 10 fills, I was finally at 2.6 cc. in my band. For whatever reason, my Dr. refuses to give me more than .2 at a time. Ok, anyhow, I went in for my big .2 fill and new that I would then graduate up to 2.8cc, right????? Well, instead, I was told I had 1 cc in the band.WTF. So, he gave me a 1/2 cc, to make me at 1.5cc. Well, where did it go? So, the next appt, which was 2 weeks later, the 1.5 was still there, so he added guess what, .2. Ok, so now I'm at 1.7 cc. He told me that sometimes when you lose weight on the outside you will also lose on the inside so the band will shift & cause it to be difficult to extract all the Fluid. Two weeks prior to this he stated I may have a leak but now he's giving me this so called reason. First of all I haven't lost any weight in months. Secondly, I though the band was sewed in place so that it shouldn't be shifting. Ok, for the past four days I have been totally nauseated, & my question is this, If my band is leaking, could it be causing this nausea??? I go back tomorrow . And I am very interested to see whats in the band now. And I will certainly mention this nausea that I can't get rid of. If anyone has any input, It would be greatly appreciated.

Band does not retain all Fluid all the time. Evaporation can happen. They pull out before a fill, measure what is left, then flush it clean, then refill. I don't think naseau would happen by the band leaking because it would leak into the abdominal cavity, not the stomach.

Hope all goes well

Thanks for the info. I went to the Dr. last Thursday and the Fluid didn't reappear, but no more has dissapeard either. I now have 1.9cc. I just hate that I had finally worked my way up to 2.6 only to be knocked so far back. I knew there could be "some" absorption" I just didn't know there could be that much. And I thought that if it was going to be absorbed that it would be during the very first fills. I've had about 11 now. Oh well, on the bright side, I had an upper GI last Thursday & the Band (thank God) is still perfectly in place and my pouch hasn't stretched or anything. And also, the nausea is gone, YAAY!!! I've decided the nausea was due to a change in prescription medicine a couple weeks prior to the starting of the nausea. Oh well, thank you so much for your feedback. Have a blessed day.

Hey, just wanted to share one more thing. You said that your doctor pulls out the needle and flushes it clean and then refills?? Is that right? My Dr. doesn't do it that way. He has the syringe already filled, then he inserts it into the port, drawers out the fluid & then injects however much he wants to back in. But there is only one initial shot. Never a withdrawing of all fluid, then flushing then readministering. I wonder why my Dr. doesn't give more saline on a visit I sure wish he gave more aggressive fills. I've had 12 fills now & I'm only up to 1.9 cc. Oh well, maybe things will get better down here in lower Alabama. Just thought I'd share that info with you.

Have a happy day,

Tammie

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
