I had a Tummy Tuck.....

Recommended Posts

I had enough sick leave and annual leave to take 6 weeks off and besides even if I didn't your employer HAS to give you the time off if your Dr. recommends it! I had FMLA covereage from day 1. It is MAJOR surgery and that is all your employer needs to know and on the FMLA paperwork it isn't supposed to go into graphic detail about what type of procedure just have Dr. go into detail about what you can and can't do and how long you'll be out for. My job requires me to lift 70 pounds many times a day...my Dr. said HECK NO! So my boss wouldn't give me a desk job for a couple weeks so he said NO WORK AT ALL THEN! It was great for me.

No, thankfully my tummy and skin haven't stretched back out like the rest of me has. I can't wait to get the band.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me the difference between a Tummy Tuck and lower body lift? I also have had 4 c sections and I heard that if you have alot of scaring from the surgeries you cannot have this type of surgery does anyone know if this is true or not, because it is more risky. Thanks

Not real sure about the scaring issue.

A tummy tuck is where they cut from hip to hip, a LBL is where they cut all the way around and lift the front and back. Hope that helps

From what I understand, the more invasive the surgery, the more muscles that are cut into and tightened, the riskier the surgery.

"how'd you get off work"

I slept with the boss! Actually, my husband and I have owned our business for 35 years, and now our two sons basically run our business. I always laugh and tell people, hubby goes in to "stir the pot" and I go in to count the money, actually check on the admin stuff. After having more than $40,000, embezzled over a two year period, I'll probably never trust anyone again ;).

Lynn~ I would do it again a million times over. Not all Dr.s use drains my BF's Dr. didn't and she has great results too. As far as down time. I work for the USPS and lift very heavy boxes and do a lot of walking so I took 4-5 weeks off. The more you do the first couple days and weeks the more you swell (OUCH) and the longer it will take to heal.

I am so glad I found your post! I too work for the PO and I have been kicking around the idea of a Tummy Tuck if needed when i reach goal. My biggest concern has been the time away from work nd you just ansered that question. I clicked on your link for the photos and the difference is remarkable! Best of luck ith the lapband, it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Take care

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
