I know that he does take lap band patients that have had it done elsewhere, as for the fluro fills, I am not sure. I was just banded on August 11 and actually havent even had a fill yet. Everyone at the office is very nice and can help you. Just tell them that Kathy is a friend and they will get you in. :)

Hi Kathy. My husband and I are finishing our last 2 months of "6 months of required weight loss attempt." Hopefully Dr. Shieh will band us upon approval. So far he and his staff have been fantastic!

Congratulations! I am very excited for you. I work for Lee Memorial Health System, Dr. Shieh is wonderful, I love him so much!

There is a support group meeting at Lee Memorial on 41 downtown. This Wednesday in Room 7124 at 530pm with Carrie Blount, There are usually people in there that are ready to have surgery and people that have already had the Lap band. I will tell you, the support group meetings are aweeesome! They really make a huge difference, if you can make a few of them before your surgery you will be really glad you did.

Well, I am at work and I have to get going. But please feel free to email me at my personal email address at work is kathleen.roderiques@leememorial.org anytime if you have questions about anything.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
