Yep Sharon... and you want to be able to feel it... more importantly you want your surgeon to be able to feel it so they can access it for fills. :D It used to give me the willies in the beginning but now it feels like it's always been there.

OK, right now I'm going through the "itchies" with the stitches and it just feels weird to feel the port so easily. Thanks!

Something about "knowing" it is there and "feeling" it makes me feel more secure... sometimes I just check to be sure, lol.

I actually like pressing mine to be sure it's still there, but my DH would freak if he touched it and I told him what it was....men!

Now That I think about it, If I'm compelled to tell others about my Lapband and he's around, he'll say "check out her port"

Mine doesn't bother me at all, and like Darcy says it feels like it's always been there. Today I had a physical and my PCP was very interested in it. She also remarked on how hard my scars were to see! Cool. :)

Sharon, you have to remember that the port is attached to the top of a muscle just under the skin so you shold be able to feel it. Some can feel it with no problem others have to press. But like Darcy says the Dr needs to feel it to fill or unfill it.

I had a fall shortly after my surgery where my protruding belly scraped down the side of a shopping cart and now my port is tipped. They think I maky have pulled the bottom two stiches off. But its not any problem at this time so they are going to leave it alone. It actually sticks out a tiny bit when I'm standing but then I wasn't planning on showing off any mens fashions in the near future lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
