Where did the fulid go?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday went in for a fill and only 1cc of "old" fulid was in my band. I had my last fill back in June which brought me up to a total of 4cc. Where did the fulid go.. where are those other 3cc of fulid. The doctor took the 1cc out of "old looking fulid" is what he saild was in my band and he replaced 1cc I got back in 2 weeks and he is going to check to see if the 1cc is still there.

Where did the fulid go?

Do a search for leaks, the missing fill, other related words, I have read threads dealing with losing saline and pockets of air in the port, things of that nature. It's on here somewhere and may give you some ideas about what's going on. A hole in the tubing? Just a guess, happy searching! And others will post here, too, I'm sure.

If your doctor does not remove all of the air from your tubing during your first fill, this can happen...Many have experienced this. There is also a dead space in the band that needs to be filled also which does not count for saline in the actual balloon part of the band,(( I have .4 cc's in my dead space)) if your doctor does not fill that dead space, the same thing can happen. You will know if he removes the air from your tubing, trust me, it feels like you are having a heart attack and someone is squeezing your heart from the inside out...removing air from your tubing is only done once during your first fill....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
