ATTN"cattiff/fairyfacade and other amazing losers

Recommended Posts

Hey there, I was banded on the 24th of Nov and had my first fill last Sunday. Well, I have only lost about 10-14lbs depending on the day..lol. So I was wondering what a day of food is for you? South beach? Lo-calorie or lo carb or what and I am a blonde so can anyone out there PLEASE give me some sample menus of your day/week. I have copied some I have seen but y'all in particular and others who have been banded since this past July I am curious and need some success tips and motivation!

Catie:

I've been doing well with my loss so I figure I am qualified to give you advice.

The things that I do are:

coffee w/ff flavored cream from 7 to 9:30

walk 1 mile around 9:30 am

oatmeal or cream of wheat for Breakfast around 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Noon - walk 2 miles

after I walk I eat one of the following for lunch:

Protein bar and half an apple or pear

cup of cheerio's or other non-sugary Cereal

walk 1 mile around 3 o'clock

sometimes I need a snack in the afternoon because I feel hungry at around 4 o'clock and if I wait too long to eat I get awful burps and gas. I have one of those one hundred calorie Snacks or some fruit

supper - i eat alot of Weight Watcher smart one's, or a pork chop, or Soup with a few crackers.

at night i eat alot of sugar free popsicles

i drink flavored sf Water or snapple throughout the day when I can fit it in.

I get on my eliptical for about 15 minutes some nights. I do some stretches on my ab lounger too.

I probably don't get enough Protein, but I'm not going bald or having any other apparent medical issues, so I'm sticking with this for now because it's working for me. I do take a Multivitamin every day. I take two tums for Calcium every day too. I usually eat two prunes to make me less constipated.

Good luck.

Thank you for responding! I got a second fill last night. I am I believe he said 11 or 12ml and he did two originally and added one more. I am hoping it works, I think too I am dealing with alot of "head hunger" and snacking out of habit.

What exactly does "restriction" feel like? I know I feel "full" almost stuffed on less, but when I am not paying attention or in bad habits I still eat. I have not experienced "pb" or other things ppl discuss.

I have lost about 2lbs and ppl at work are noticing so I am losing inches, but I guess I thought it would be faster and that once I lost a pound I would not see it again but I go up and down 3lbs.

Also was wondering about why are ppl doing south beach or atkins..isn't the band about no more diets just better choices or is this for ppl who hit a plateau? I want to do SB but not too soon, I want to let the band show me it is working before I do a diet.. I asked my Doc and he said not to diet just make better choices and the band prevents over eating but I am a lil discouraged/confused

I want positive results and just need to know what y'all did as newbies and now before dieting at a plateau?

Sorry for rambliong just anxious and confused

thx

Aw I wish I saw this post before, sorry I just now saw it

My secret? Nothing. Hehe. Better genes than I thought maybe?

I don't diet. I counted calories the first 6 months due to no restriction. I weaned down.. 1,600 calories a day.. then 1,400 calories a day 2 months later.. uhm.. down to 1,000ish.. And every once in a while I'd go over my 'goal'. Once I finally received good restriction, I don't count anything. I eat carbs.. sugar.. But I can only eat small portions, so I'm not worried about eating too much of anything. If I eat chocolate cake, I can only eat 2 small bites. There are a couple things I have to keep out of the house-- cokes & ice cream. Both go down fine and are yummy to me, and I'd eat/drink them all day long. So things the band won't control like that, I don't tempt myself with.

Other then that.. really no secret. I believe 100% you need to get that good restriction.

thanks for your response, it is alright girl actually I think I got you on a private message..i had a fill under flour this week and am up to 7ml's..and I think I finally have what seems to be a wee bit of restriction..not much though. but i do not want to get too aggressive with fills so I have been exercising hardcore this week and got an elliptical and I plan to keep this up since I have dropped about 3lbs this week!! FINALLY..but ALL ME NOT THE BAND SO FAR..I am praying and I have faith that this tool will start doing it's job, no doubt! I am self pay & I trust my doctor and I know God would not have let us pay all this money for nothing! Thanks ladies!

Congrats, it sounds like you're on the right track! 3lbs in a week is great!

I would suggest you going to get more restriction if you consider it a 'wee bit'. Ease into it for sure, but don't stop going!

I think I will go back next week, I am just scared of what I hear of ppl getting aggressive fills and having problems later, but I also hear to go every couple of weeks til a good one so yup, will be back next week I am sure! I want to come back to the states skinnier than when we visited last summer

CONGRATS by the way! so do you exercise as well? lucky girl, so restriction for you is eating like 1/2c and feeling full/satisfied for a few hours? please enlighten me,lol

Somewhere between 1/4c-1/2c. If I eat something like steak, chicken. chili, or even scrambled eggs.. I'm full for a long time. I still haven't been able to decide when I have head hunger or real hunger, or maybe I'm in denial. But I snack more than I should. I justify it by having little snacks.. I really don't think I should be a role model for anyone.. I am doing great, but if I told my doc everything I eat he would probably scold me!!

I hope its ok for me to post. I have lost a steady 10lbs every month.

I'm not a fan of exercise but I know that will have to change, I did join a gym but I don't go as often as I should. Still weather I did go or not the weight was always the same, thats why I'm not too worried about it. That being said, I'm 15lbs from my ideal/goal weight. I don't feel I've lost too good this last month, since I've never had a fill I'm thinking about asking for one. However I'm never hungry so not sure they will?

Anyway, I eat meat, in almost every meal, usually a turkey patty for Breakfast with 3 sections of a orange. lunch, lean burger, no fat sour cream and lettuce ,mixed up, or a small tossed salad with low fat dressing, shredded carrots or sliced olives. Supper usually a steak and veggies.

So far its been easy for me and I feel bad for those that have had such a hard time. I had no idea it was so tuff for some till I found this great forum!

Good Luck!

That's kind of how I feel. I had 6 months of thinking it wouldn't work, and it ended up being a port issue. Once they fixed the port, the weightloss has 'felt' effortless to me. I don't know what to suggest for slow-losers, I don't think I am doing anything special. Like I said, I would not be a role model to lap-band patients anywhere.. so it's kind of a tough thing to offer advice on how to speed things up. I also think it's different for everyone. What works for one, may not work for the other, etc.

The band did NOT fix my head issues, but it's at least keeping my head issues from controlling my weight.

Sue, sounds like you have a good meal/exercise plan. How much have you lost?

Ebonie, Congrads on your success, unbelievable you've lost so much without a fill. Good luck to all of you

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
