Surgery on Friday - back to normal activities on Monday. I tried not to lift my son too much (he's 26 pounds) but sometimes you have to lift a 1 1/2-year-old.

I have a desk job and I took a week off from work and then the next week was my Thanksgiving Holiday vacations I had scheduled off:smile:. I would say after 7 days you feel much better, however after about 10 days I was 100%.

I went back in one week, but going to work today, realized that I should have taken the second week. I was banded two weeks ago today.

I have a really bad head cold that I know I got from the office, and that is making me miserable.

I was banded on Monday and went to work (desk job) on Thursday. However, the day I was banded my dad was diagnosed with cancer and so I spent the day after surgery and the next day (until I went to work) at the hospital. I was sore but was able to keep my secret from my extended family. When they saw me moving gingerly they asked if I hurt my back. I told them I had actually just had a hiatal hernia repaired (which was true). No more questions and they still don't know.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
