update of my possibly too tight fill....

Recommended Posts

so it has been a week since my fill..here is my situation, and input would be very helpful....i can get Water down, but only sips at a time...it takes me a LONG time to drink a glass of water....yesterday i ate about 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes, plus maybe a forkful of chicken....but its more the liquids that are filling me which is fine, but it takes soo long, this hasnt been what happens to me, is this what happens at a good restriction or is it too tight, like i said i feel thirsty more than anything, but i dont want to have an unfill if i dont have to:confused:

one week for me too and I am in the same boat. I don't have good advice except that this has happened to me before and it always loosens up in a week or two. My surgeon's recommendation has always been to go back to liquids if food is hard to eat - even for the entire first week. Good luck and keep updating us!

I've lived months and months that way.... and towards the end ended up crying frequently because I couldn't eat.

What I found was 'missing food' was missing an old friend...a friend who turned out to be an enemy.

But hanging over the sink daily to slime was no fun...but became normal for me.

You can tough it out but make sure your doc knows as you don't want to cause harm OR you can get a slight unfill so that you can eat more.

I chose the first option and just toughed it out until after the holidays. I met my goal but still waited for my appointment for the slight unfill.

No regrets! (no damage, either)

If I couldn't eat, but wasn't hungry, I think I'd welcome that. It seems like staying on liquids until things 'loosen up' is a good idea. Can't say as I've never been there.

I have pretty good restriction now and am due to go for another 'fill' next week. I'm starting to get worried I might be getting an 'overfill' if I seem to have good restriction now...

I wanted to update you guys - I was super super tight for like 6 days - to the point where I was hiccuping after drinking water! I was worried but on day 7 things have gotten better. What really helped me was staying on liquids a little longer - I think I pushed it a little and got even more swollen. Good luck!

Thanks for posting this. My 2nd fill was yesterday and I can only sip Water. I was starting to get a little freaked out. I can actually feel the tightness at the band site. Is that normal? I too will wait a few weeks before deciding if I need to get an unfill. I hope I don't get dehydrated.

QUESTION; How long did you stay on Clear Liquids b4 moving onto all liquids. I'd like to down a Protein drink right now, but can't. I need the energy! Darn it. I'm on my way to GNC for the 50 Gram Slam drink, for when I'm ready!

My personal opinion because i have been through this of being too tight. THe last time i went for an unfill by time i got to the doc i could feel the tightness in my chest , it was VERY uncomfortable. Both times I have thought i needed an unfill I did. Also . You should not be asking advice about how long you stay on clear liquids before moving to liquids on the boards those are questions you need to ask YOUR Doctor. WHy ? because every doc is different. My docs post fill diet is MUCH different than most. I am on clear liquids for 3 days liquids 3 days mushies 3 semi solids 3 days.

Some docs only require 24 hours after a fill. Also docs require something different if you think your too tight or if your swollen . My advice if your having problems getting liquids down , at the VERY LEAST call your doc to make him aware of the situation !

Yep, you're too tight. You could risk a slippage. It's not worth the benefits of losing the weight more quickly, imo.

totally agree. In my experience if you think your too tight your too tight !

And contrary what everyone thinks , unfills are not the end of the world.

You WILL still HAVE RESTRICTION if you get an unfill !

They are fine you will not regret getting one . I have had 2 unfills and 2 fills.

My doc and I have found that im sensitive to fills and need to go slower with them , smaller fills at a time. And im fine !

sounds to me like you are too full. You should be able to stay well hydrated and eat normal food with your band. Call your doctor.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
