Vicky,

A PB is a productive burp. You could call it throwing up but it really isn't because it dosn't come from your stomac. What happens is that you take a bite of food...within seconds it goes to your band and your band says..nu uh..not gone let you by..and you run to the bathroom fast...because there is no stopping it. It comes right back up just as it went down. Sometimes...even your Water or what ever you are drinking will do that. It is supposedly not bad for your teeth because there is not acid in it as it never went to your stomach. You will be doing it from time to time..it is pretty much inevitable. Feel free to ask any questions..now that I am getting close to my first year...I am almost an oldster!

Chell,

Fortunatly for me...my family doctor had been seeing me for a couple of years and she new that I had dieted..tried her diet pills (Meridian) ove the course of a couple of years..so she wrote a letter to the ins co and I didn't have to do the 6 month diet. If I remember correctly..I started the ins process in Jan..and had the surg by May...it could have went allot faster if the girl at the doctor office would have pushed that paperwork faster. She really had a cavalier attitude about hurrying for me! Good luck. Once you have the band..you will drop the wght fast.

Blessings, Weazer

Well, I guess that when I turn 50 next May..I won't like blogging as much! Nope I refuse...I get really connected and supported on these lap band forums..I'm going to keep looking for you 50 somethings..I want to know if the weight is coming off or slowing down like me. I am still in the low 180's I so want to get into the 170's. I am eating too many sweet things lately.

Sweets are my downfall too. I wish they would get stuck and make me sick.

I was kind of surprised when I started losing weight. Everyone keeps telling me I look good, and all I can see are all the wrinkles that weren't there before. It's worth it to wear cute clothes, but I still don't like it one bit.

Denise,

About the sweets..they are just so much easier for me to eat! But not nutrious.

Here is what I ate yesterday...this has not been the ususal for me..but I am afraid I am slipping back into my old habits.

Breakfast - coffee w/chocolate Creamer - a Hershy's bar

lunch - small cup of chili w/side of freeto's - sm cobbler - sm coke

dinner - small cup mashed potatoes - Two bowls of ice cream!

What an awful day! Where is the nutrition? Why so many sweets? Why the cokes? I ususally only have a coke once or twice a week.

I am slipping into bad habits. I just have so much trouble eating meat and bread anymore that I am starting to lean more to the sweets. This is bad. I need to figure out what to do.

Any ideas?

Lisa

Lisa, If you can I think maybe a therapist could help. None of us got fat because we enjoy it, there are underlying reasons. The surgery will never work for you if you don't figurethem out. Vicki

Nobody with a good fill can eat bread. But if you can't eat meat, you might be too tight. Have you thought about having a slight amount taken out? When I was too tight, I had trouble eating so many things, I finally decided it just wasn't worth it. I had a little tiny bit taken out, and now I can eat tiny portions of just about anything. I wouldn't try pizza or bread though. They are just known to cause problems for everyone.

Miss Vicki,

Thanks for the advice. I know why I used to overeat. This surg has helped tremedously...I don't think it's a head problem why I am reverting to sweets..I think it's a band is too tight problem. The sweets are just so much easier to eat. I think Denise is right about maybe needing a bit of fill taken out..maybe going from 3.25 to 3 cc's. maybe when I can eat a bigger variety of foods again..I won't need to eat the easy stuff.

Thanks friend,

Lisa

I have 3 ccs and my band holds 4. I am sure I could not handle anymore than that. I hate throwing up, and having food gets stuck. I am just perfect right now. I can eat whatever I want, just in small amounts. If I chew very well, and eat slowly, I don't have problems.

God no, I look like a whale in my legs. I was watching Discovery Health over the week end and they were showing how folks after losing a lot of weight need to get body lifts. I can see this happening to me. Except for the fact I doubt my insurance will pay for such a thing. But they need to realize this is not plastic surgery for vanity reasons, some of us need it for health reasons...all that extra skin smells, gets rash etc...

Your'e welcome Lisa, I just know I have demons that need to be conquered. I am 12 days post op today. Since the banding I have dropped 11 1/2 lbs. Is that good? I feel Ok except I have had a little trouble with Constipation, personal I know but if anyone can help it's you guys. Does anyone else have this problem? If so any advice or solutions that have worked for you? I start mushies this week and amd wondering what I should try first. Any suggestions? I also feel hungry alot. I don't think I have any restriction yet could that be why? I don't want to feel hungry, that's one of the big reasons I had this done. Anyone with suggestions please let me know. My husband is great at cooking stuff for us to eat together but I need to know what's best. Thanks everybody, Vicki

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
