Going for another fill

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my date for fill number 4. I hope to get some restriction with this one. At least some that lasts a while. These bands are so tempermental. Its like they do whatever they want to.

Dave can I just say you are doing awesome! I just had my 3rd fill today-hopefully it will be just what I need to get this going again. Holidays were a little rough on me... Maybe this one will be just what you need:0

Stacey, Thanks, its been a little rough over the holidays for me too. I'm back on track now with the Protein shakes and exercise again. I'm pushing hard to get to the 100 lb lost mark, one of my goals.

Looking at your ticker, you are doing great too. I'm gonna ask for another 2cc's tomorrow and see if she will let me have it.

I have my second fill coming up on 23 January... and not a moment too soon. You guys are doing great. I can't wait to get some real restriction back so I can get more weight off.

Back from the fill doctor and she added a little more. She could only get 8.4 out instead of 9, so its now up to 9.6cc's

And the good news is my scale is off since I moved it and I have made my 100 lb mark:whoo::whoo::whoo::clap2::clap2:

I just had another .25cc fill yesterday afternoon. That brings me up to 3cc total. The nurse practitioner told me that based on what I had said, she felt that I was almost at my sweet spot. I agree but I wanted a little more because most days I do really well but then there are others where I feel like I could eat everything in sight. Hopefully this last little bit will do the trick. I have been kinda queasy today and my upper back/shoulders are aching. Don't know if it is band related or what since this is a new feeling after a fill.

This is my repost from another thread. Hope it helps:

I got this card from Natalie at Dr. Kirshenbaum's office. I will retype it for the benefit of those who were and are where I was before my last fill:

Get into the Lap-Band Green Zone

ADD Fluid think.gif

When:

You appear to always feel hungry

You are able to eat big meals

You are 'looking for food'

SUB-OPTIMAL WEIGHT LOSS

GREEN ZONE happy.gif

The Optimal Zone and what you target for

You have early and prolonged satiety

-you feel satisfied earlier at mealtime and that fullness sticks with you for a good while.

Small meals satisfy

Satisfactory weight loss or maintenance

OPTIMAL WEIGHT LOSS

Reduce Fluid huytsao.gif

Difficulty swallowing

Reflux-Heartburn

Night Cough

Regurgitatioin

Poor Eating Behavior

SUB-OPTIMAL WEIGHTLOSS

..................................................

I hope this helps. It took me three fills to finally hit the zone. This "sweet spot" as it is known, is a lovely place to be. Mind you I have retrained myself to chew slowly, eat slowly, no liquids at meal time ( I will have the occasional room temperature drink of Water to cleanse the pallette). The band goes hand in hand with rechanging eating patterns (habits..event the bad ones) that we've developed over the years.

I'm right there with you, Sades! I go in Friday, the 18th so with the time difference, that's practically the same day as you! :P We'll need to compare notes afterwards -- we've done everything else together! :grouphug:

Sades and Longhorn,

We were all banded the same day. I get my second fill on 1/14. I have been eating way too much so I can't wait. I'm hoping for 5cc in my APS

Yep, we're all band sisters. :P

I have 4 ccs now so I'm expecting he'll put in one more. I do want him to take it slow and allow me to adjust. I will also need to adjust my eating habits further. I think I've done a good job of chewing more and my bites are smaller but I suspect not small enough and I don't eat slowly enough for when I do get some restriction. That's one reason I'd just as soon take it slow, to give me time to adjust rather than be forced to adjust.

I'll be watching to see how your next fill goes, too! :grouphug:

Hi Longhorn & Patty, yes we are band sisters and doing pretty well I think. We will definitely compare notes on our fills Longhorn... I only have 2mls in a 10mls band... I guess that cc's for you guys. I think I need another 2 or 3 mls this time around. Need some real restriction again... willpower is working fine again but restriction helps nudge the willpower !! :whoo::whoo: I'm so ready for my next big weight loss... been the same weight too long.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
