This is cool. All you sixties come over here so we can find each other. It's very foggy here this week and there were 2 huge car pile-ups on I90-I94 last night. About 50 cars involved and 2 deaths and several in critical condition. It's a dark gloomy day . Hard to get motivated for anything. Good day to just go back to bed.

Hi there! Let's get this thread going. I see you were banded in Oct. Congrats to you. How is it going? I finish my supervised diet for the insurance company in 21 days. The place I go said they will be submitting all my paperwork that same day. I am really having a hard time with this. I am so worried about approval, some days it really gets me down. I know everyone has been in this place and survived, so I don't mean to whine, but it is so hard. I'm in Texas, weather is beautiful.

Hello Everyone

Had my surgery on the 31st of December 07. Say my doctor for my one week followup today. He said to continue to do what I've been doing and follow the outlined plan given be by the nut.. Its good to have a place where we can post about things that we experience during recovery .

I know I'm only started on the path but I think I may have found something that will do the job this time. If it can cut my portions and make me think before eating to fast. Also it look like there are enough people on here to kick my butt if I screw up.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Genea

Hi, Just looking thru this site on recommendation from nutritionist. I expect to have surgery beginning of March and was asked why I wanted to have the surgery at age 62!!!!! I want to feel better, get rid of my diabetes and lower back pain, and live longer. I live in central New Hampshire and must travel to Manchester, about 90 miles each way for meetings and surgery etc. I started this whole process in May of 2007 and know that this is going to be a lifetime commiment I wanted to talk to someone who is also getting ready for the surgery or just had it. Not too computer savy either sooooo. Thanks

Hi everyone,

I had my surgery the 20th of Dec. 07. I'll finally see my surgeon tomorrow for my one week check if he doesn't cancel. I'm doing well, just pretty anxious to move on to soft food:) Here in Eastern Washington state we are having a snow storm. We've had a real, old fashioned winter and I'm finding the older I get, the less I like them.

Its so good to find a place for the "mature" banders. I see my surgeon on the 21 of this month and hope to set up my surgery date. I've been through all the hoops so far but have the diatition to see yet. I have a lot of health problems----diabetes, heart, CHF, and hight blood pressure. My family Dr thinks this "tool" will be great for me and that I can get off of insulin. I sure hope so too.

Glad to have found you!

Aside from my BMI of 37/38, I am about 100 pounds overweight, have all the co-morbidities except diabetes (HBP, high cholesterol, GERD, knee arthritis, sleep apnea, etc), and I am 62, soon to be 63. It has gotten to the point that I can't afford the COPAYS for the meds I have to take! Someone at work said "You are doing this for health reasons, right?" Like, duh! I joke about getting my bills paid off so I can save for my Tummy Tuck, but who knows what the future will bring? We all have our reasons (mostly the same ones) but we came to this decision and if we pass all the screening hoops they make you jump through, who is to say you are too old?

Unitygal - I am about your age, have diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholestorol, arthritis in my knees, lower back pain, etc. etc. etc. No matter what our age, everyone is entitled to have the best quality of life they can find for themselves. At 62, you could have 30 years left, so what do they mean "at your age!!!!" My mother lived to be 92 and my mother-in-law is still kicking with all her faculties at 95. And one of the reasons they both found longevity was because they took charge of their health and had whatever surgeries or medical care that would help them achieve optimal health. Obviously, it would have been nice if we did this earlier, but I say, let's go girls (and guys) and go out being the best we can be!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone! I am so excited about finding you all! I haven't had my consult yet and was so afraid that the surgeon would say that I am too old at 69! I just finished the pre-consult testing and am anxious to get going. I live near Vancouver, BC and will be seeing Dr. Leung. I am in pretty good health except for aching joints but hate being this weight (250) and would love to have a "lap" for grandbabies! Bye for now, Joyce

Good morning everyone. I'm ashamed of myself today. Last night I found the Christmas candy I hid from myself and I ate a whole lot of it. why why why do I do that? I feel angry because I don't have any restriction and that makes me feel rebeliuos. How stupid. I'm not hurting anyone but myself. Sometimes I'm so disgusted with me. I still can't bring myself to throw out all that chocalate and carmel and nut combinations. Right now it doesn't even sound good, but I know at bed time I will be craving it again. I just have to make myself get rid of it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
