Welcome from IL. I just turned 31 on Thursday and decided this is the year. This is the year the fat ends. I have been overweight for about 7 years really, really overweight. My BMI is 40. I have always been "chunky" though. It is time to get back to what I was when I met my husband. :-)

I am going through the final insurance phase right now. My friend, another member on here, has the same insurance and has been approved so I am optimistic the same will happen for me. I am hoping for a 2-8-08 surgery date like she has. We will see.

I have been browsing and have found a lot of interesting things. I am glad to be aboard.

Julie :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

I currently live in Decatur, IL. It is in the middle of Illinois. However, I am from Naperville. Actually my parents still reside in Naperville. They live on the Naperville/Aurora border in White Eagle just off of 87th and 59.

Did you go to school in Aurora? I went to Central. :-) :bounce:

Hi Julie-Welcome ! I'm from the great state of Illinois too. You should look up "mhazelrigg" she is also from Decatur and we are both having our surgeries in February too. Be sure to check out the February 08 Bandster forum so you can post your surgery date there.

Hi Tweety-Love Orland Park area for shopping. I'm about 20 minutes from there. So nice to have local town folk on this forum.

I didn't go to school in IL. I moved here from Michigan 26 years ago.

I see. I am glad to have found someone so close. Julie :-)

Hi Tina. Yes I know Michelle. She and I are actually really good friends. We did our second undergrad together and are getting our post grad together as well. We teach in the same district. :-) I have my fingers crossed for the same surgery date as hers. We will see. :)

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
