Hi everyone. I am scheduled to be banded on Jan. 11th and I'm just curious how your surgeon closed your incisions. Did s/he glue, staple, or stitch?

Hi, I was glued. My incisions looked great. I like the glue because I don't have to worry about it coming off when it gets wet or earlier than it's suppose to.

I Was Glued And They All Blew Open On Me, I Had To Go To My Local Er And They Had To Stich Them All, The Only Horrid Scar Is From Thr Port Incision The Others Werent Big Enough. The Doc In The Er Was Horrified That They Dont Staple Them As The Stomach Skin Is Very Tough And Glue Is Not Sturdy Enough. So The Only Bad Scarring I Have Is The One Site, But Honestly I Would Rather Be Thin And Healthy With A Scar Then Big And Unhealthy With No Scars, Besides Isnt That What They Make Tattoo's For ???? Hahahahhahah

I had internal stitches and my incisions were glued and he covered them with steri strips. Once the steri strips came off, my incisions were closed. My incisions look pretty good for being 3 weeks out.

Glue for me which my doc affectionately referred to as Mexican Glue. Glad they have a sense of humor about the whole thing.

I had zero problems with the glue. Came off in the shower while cleaning myself about 2.5 weeks out. The scars look awesome and with a little Vitamin e oil and/or mederma should fade soon enough.

I was stapled, they came out yesterday, OUCH :D

of course I am a bit of a baby about stuff like this.

They feel much better today. The port incision had 10 staples. The others each had 3. The scars look purple now but feel alot better.

Most surgeons use absorbable (dissolving) stitches under the skin and then apply steri-strips (white tape) to reinforce.

Sometimes the skin will "spit" out the dissolving sutures and it will feel like fishing line is sticking out of your skin. If this happens you can either wait for it to dissolve or have your surgeon trim it off in the office.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
