Pain under my large incision 2wks post op

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this ,I read another thread but there pain was under there arms or in there shoulders, mine is a totally different place,it is tender to the touch, I am trying not to freak out. I have a support meeting in 2days will ask nurse if it doesn't get any worse by then. But it also my "time" would this cause the pain from all the bloating? Just curious. thanks everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm 5 weeks post op, and I too, have had pain right under my large incision. Now that you mention it, it was most bothersome during TOM, but also if I've eaten a larger meal... I'm getting a fill this week so hopefully those larger meals will be a thing of the past.

Well that's 3 of us, although my pain went away after a few days - I was told that it's something to do with the port being stitched into the muscle - but I'm not sure how.

My surgeon said the pain was because my port is sewn into the muscle. He said it would take a little more time to stop feeling pain there.

I don't know where my port is... my surgeon told me it would be right around my ribs and I have a small incision there with a bump under it... I think that's my port... so I still don't know about the pain with the large incision. I see my surgeon this week for a fill so I'll find out where my port is I guess.

my port is soo painful! It is still swollen, dr said it is normal bc it is sewn extra good to the muscle. Yuck!

Right under my large incision where my port is located was tender for couple weeks also but what made it worst was... I got sick and everytime I cough the port would push against my incision which wasnt a pleasent experience cause i was in tears sometime with the amount of pain. So now i'm not sick and my port area is little tender but i can manage.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
