Watched my Emmi Doc sent.

Recommended Posts

I was sent a information video called a Emmi it was fabulous. It really clarified many questions I had and felt a little unsure to ask. I have my first date with the surgeon on Jan 11 and found out through email I apparently have Dr. Schuster of St. Mary's Hospital in Louisville Ky. I met him during the seminar he is wonderful and will be easy to work with I am sure. I am so excited I hope they will be able to do my surgery in Jan.. so I can get my routine down and well on my way to a healthier slimmer me before spring. :clap2::clap2::clap2:

I wonder what percentage of people with lap bands watch the Emmi programs?

I really do not know what percent watch the emmi . I would think anyone who was thinking of undergoing this sort of thing would read/watch any information sent to them especially if sent from their doctor. I found the Emmi very informative, I am very glad it was sent to me and I was allowed to share it with a few of my friends and my brother who are also thinking of doing the surgery.

This is my first day here and this is my first reply. This site is great is it not? I am in the begining stages of getting my procedure done. Please let me know how your procedure turns out will you? I am interested in your experience at St. Mary's and Dr. Schuster himself.....again, good luck and be happy

Hello Donna,

I am from Southern Indiana near the Seymour area. An Emmi is a program sent to you by the surgeon that walks you through the entire process via computer. It is really neat you can go on line and watch something similar here

My doc used the My Emmi program, too, and it was awesome. IMO, it should be required for ALL patients to watch/participate in prior to banding. SO informative, and I love the fact that I could pause during the presentation and type in a question that was submitted to my doc so I didn't have to try to remember all my questions. When I went for my consult, he had the printout of all my questions, and went right down the list and answered every one, no matter how simple or silly the question might have seemed.

 just wanted to say...yes I was banded by Dr Keith McEwen. You are making a great choice. Dr McEwen and his staff really like to help you use your tools to be successful. LAP-BAND® Surgery in Indiana - Bariatric Surgery - Morbid Obesity Surgery - Keith McEwen M.D. or Indiana Obesity Center - LAP-BAND® System Surgery is a good way to learn more. I paid for my surgery and it was the best choice and best thing I ever have DONE FOR MYSELF!

Best Wishes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
