Hi. I am 41 years old and live in NJ with my hubby of 15 years and my kids ages 13 and 8. My surgery is scheduled for January 8th. I am both excited and nervous. I just can't wait to start my new "weigh" of life and my new journey!

Hi...I am with you girl! I am scheduled to be banded on 1/10, and am soooo excited. I am 39, have been married 16 years, and have a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son. Personally, 2007 has been the worst year of my life. Anything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong this year. 2008 is going to be the year for us both. I'll look out for you on the boards! Good luck!

Hi to you all,

I am also being done in January on the 16th. I am nervous and very excited about the changes it will bring. I can't seem to get enough of the forums. There are so many positives to having this surgery. There are some negatives but I think they are out weighed by the improvements the lap band can make to your health and life style. Good luck to every one.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
