Bad Christmas Eve today - total PBs.

Recommended Posts

I started the day off fine with a Protein Shake this a.m. I was starving come 11:30 so we decided to go out for chinese food. I had literally 2 bites and PBd. I couldn't even have one more bite. Fast forward to this evening. We went over my friends house for a cocktail. On the way, because I was famished because I couldn't hold down lunch I decided to try beef Jerky. Good for Protein, correct? Yes, BUT then I PBd the beef jerky. Tonight at dinner I decided to eat really light and try some mash potatoes. No way, I PBd those too! Finally I was able to get in 2 tablespoons of masy potatoes and a little yams. For desert I mustard up enough power to get in 2 bites of cheesecake and a little ice cream. I am not too tight. This is very rare for me. Some days I can eat like a pig and other days like today I totally suffer. What is up with this fickle band? I am taking in Protein Shakes tomorrow and hopefully by dinner time I can have some solid protein. Go figure!

Just a thought, but is it holiday stress? I know when I stress the band seems tighter. It is not really the band, but my stomach swells a little and now a little means a lot and I will tighten up.

Starting the day with something warm to drink helps. It seems to loosen up any sinus drainage from the night. I like coffe, but just warm Water would work too. Just a thought.

Hang in there, I am sure it will get better soon.

Cheers,

MMT

I absolutely think it could be stress (at least for me). I don't even have a fill (banded at the end of June, 2007) and tonight I tried to eat about 1/3 cup of a VERRRRY moist chicken breast and....ooooooh the pain!

I always stick to liquids if I start a pb episode. Once you pb, going right back to solids starts a cycle of more pbs. I have always been advised to stick to liquids for 24 hours after a pb.

If it's not too bad of one, I will do liquids for at least most of the rest of the day if it's early in the day.

If it's a bad one, I try not to eat and let everything rest for a couple of hours before even trying liquids.

Wow! i have the same thing, for about the last 12 days. I can't eat much at all, if anything. Drinkin protien, and sometimes that is a chore. I am thinking it is stress related, must be if we are all having the same problems and it is at the same time! interesting!!!!!

Hi...when I get stressed, my lap band tightens up....and I have trouble eating anything other than Soup. I have been relaxed the past few days and have eaten a lot more than usual. But back to work tomorrow and a stressful week ahead will cause me to not eat much solid.

Good luck!!!! My band is 9 months old.

Merry Christmas everyone, Glad I came to this sight, cause I'm stuck like a mug, lol. I had coffee this morning to easy the band. Later I had a protien drink, couldn't drink it all. Thought I'd taste a piece (very small) of ham to see if it was ready, now it's still here with me. The band is fickle, but thank God for it. Didn't get anything for Christmas, but I did get my band (8-10-07) and most of all I'm still alive and I'm thankful for Jesus. Be blessed everyone.

Gloria

This is really helpful information. I'm getting banded on 1/11 and starting to get nervous (but also excited; lap band hell is hell!). Happy Holidays to all.

Update: I started the day with a Protein Shake. I was starving within 30 minutes. I can eat bread and I wanted something light on my stomach so I had a piece of toast with butter. It went down fine until about 10 minutes later then I PBd a little of it. I was able to consume the rest of my cup of milk. Now I am on applesauce. Heaven only knows how I'm going to get through Christmas dinner! Peace to all! Thanks for the posts. Glad I am not alone!

I guarantee it's stress. On top of the usual holiday stress I'm moving this week too, I've been unusually tight the past week and it's driving me nuts.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
