Anyone able to maintain less than 140 lbs?

Recommended Posts

Since I'm short, to get my BMI to where I'm NOT overweight, has to be pretty low and my weight would have to be under 140. Just wondering how many long term banders have been able to acheive and maintain a weight between 130 and 140.

Not sure. I'm at 140 now, I'm 5' 5" and my plastic surgeon says he'll take about 10 pounds off my fat, hangy gut.

Not sure how tall you are so I'm not sure how that compares. I do find that I don't have to work at maintaining in the least. If I put forth effort I lose, if I don't I stay the same.

Hi Shortgal, just wondering-what is your height ? I'm 5'1-1/2 & my goal weight is 140 and that is still considered a lot for my height but I love how I looked at that size.

oops! reading is fundamental-just saw that ur 5'0

LOL. Yes, I'm very vertically challenged at 5 feet tall. I used to be 5 feet and 1/2 inch, guess I'm shrinking in both directions now.

Just wondering how realistic it is to hope to get and mostly to MAINTAIN a weight under 140.

I'd be very satisfied to be and stay at 140, but my doctor is saying 150-160. I guess he thinks it's probably going to be hard to stay under that as well. Less weight, less food, it IS hard.

Exercise could make the difference and I do like to walk, but winters here make it tough to walk all year.

gosh, for me to be at 140 i would be skinny as a rail with my ribs showing. guess it's because i'm a 5'10 male with large bones. my"ideal" weight is 190-210, so my main goal is 220.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
