Dumping can make you feel faint, weak, loopy, can cause your heart to race and even cause you to faint...if it's just diarrhea it's probably something that's a little less severe than that.

Are you six months out or are you 15 weeks out? At 15 weeks, beef may be more than you can handle. At that time, I was making chili at home with ground turkey which was much easier to digest.

Dumping symptoms are pretty much as @pintsizedmallrat described, though one may not get all of the symptoms or even the same symptoms each time. Usually dumping is caused by excess sugar or fats. "Excess" here being more than your personal dumping threshold, should you have one. I dump on both sugar and fats pretty easily because I'm just that lucky.

I don't recall Wendy's chili being particularly fatty but I'm not sure I would call it lean. It may have been mild late dumping. It may have just been coincidence. Just monitor your foods in the future to see if there really is a connection or not.

Good luck,

Tek

Yes I’m only 15 weeks out and my doctor said to wait 6 months for pork and beef…when I got the chili I wasn’t thinking about the beef…so not I’m only have a little diarrhea no other symptoms

I wondered if it could be a lactose intolerance which we can develop post wls. Diarrhoea, bloating, wind are the usual symptoms an hour or so after eating lactose. Sugar alcohols (in some artificial sweeteners) can do the same thing. And yes, as the others have said, dumping has many more symptoms which are temporarily debilitating.

I don’t know about the beef. I was easily eating steak & pork pretty soon out after solid foods (probably from around weeks 9 or 10). But we are all different & our tummies can be fussy & sensitive for a time about certain foods.

it could be just an intolerance to something in the chili (maybe the beef - but maybe the Beans? ). Dumping involves cramping, heart palpitations, chills or sweats, and diarrhea - and supposedly it can go on for a long time

The diarrhea in itself was enough for me🤣😂🤣

I developed allergies to foods and lactose intolerance after both of my surgeries. After my sleeve, I developed a NASTY shellfish allergy and lactose intolerance. After my revision to bypass, I developed an allergy to peanuts and an allergy to the surgical glue they used. Surgery can do weird things to the body. Major surgery like this throws the body WAY out of whack.

I agree I’ve had tons of surgeries and never was I allergic to the glue but this time I broke out so bad and I still have the marks from the reaction…I do know I’m lactose free intolerant too we’re I wasn’t before…it’s really just a try and see as you go for what works for you…thank you for responding

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
