Just plain grumpy!

Recommended Posts

Surgery date was 12/17, so today is day 4. I move from Clear liquids to full liquids. Yeehaa. I am still hurting quite a bit, but I'm reasonably certain it's gas rather than incisions. I've been so constipated then just had some pretty serious diahrrea. (Hey, I'm really just happy *something* is coming out, maybe some of the gas will pick up on the trail!) Yesterday I was having some serious regrets and was hoping that today I'd be feeling better. Not so far. ;) (Of course, it's just after 6 am, so the day might get better! Hoping!)

Someone please tell me I'm going to feel better, soon!

Hang in there!! Take your pain meds & knock yourself out.. I promise everyday gets better & better.. I really started felling good on day 4 post op. Just kept myself medicated through the carppy days until then.....

By day 7 I almost feel like I didn't have anything done, besides the modified diet & gas! :-)

So keep on keeping on. I promise it gets better.

It DOES get better. I remember thinking "What in the world have I done?" but that passes and everything starts looking brighter. There are still days that I move wrong and get a twinge but for the most part there are very few side effects still holding me back on day 14. I still dont stretch up a lot or turn really quick....but I can sleep the whole night through without ouching everytime I move. During the day my students are not noticing anything odd anymore. My co-workers say I look much more rested and healed lately. Just give it a few more days. It will be a blessing soon instead of a curse.

Jewelee,

right there with ya! Same surgery date, same feelings. I do feel a little more clear headed than I did yesterday. Gas pain is awful!!! My stomach/intestines?? are rumbling and making noises and I'm starting to feel like I won't barf if I eat something other than a popscicle. I was also thinking what the he*l did I just do to myself? I know its only for a few days but honestly my 3 c-sections weren't this uncomfortable afterward. Oh well, it'll pass and when the scale starts to go down..I'm sure I'll forget all about the nausea and being grumpy. Hang in there, we'll get thru this! :sick

Today is day 4 post surgery for me also. I am feeling pretty good today. The gas seems to be moving today, at least easier than it has been, LOL. I can definitely tell a difference between yesterday and today and hopefully this trend continues.

Hang in there, it won't last.

Thanks so much for your replies. It HAS actually been a better day. I'm up more, and not in so much pain. Here's to hoping that the improvement continues!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
