3 mo out, how is everyone?

Recommended Posts

I just got my first fill the week before Christmas. It was much easier than I expected from reading about problems that others have had. Really didn't feel anything except the sting from the numbing injection. Got 1.5 ccs and can tell a difference in the amount that I can eat. I've lost a total of 34 lbs since surgery on Sept 24, 07. 4 lbs since the fill (and over the holidays, too!) I am happy with that so far and have had no problems at all over the last 3 months. Lost 2 clothing sizes and 29 inches in various places. Lot's more energy and ability to exercise has greatly increased.

As for the meat, I can't eat white chicken or turkey...only the dark meat but need some type of gravy or liquid....BUT can eat a few bites of steak.....totally cannot eat chicken or tuna salad but can do the egg salad.....

I think everyone has a different reaction to their band and just has to work with it...

before surgery I was a salt and carb lover, now I want sweets!

Go figure!

Have lost 54 pounds since 9/11/07 and am just trying to not gain over the holidays. Keeping Christmas Desserts out of the house and increasing Water. Have not needed a fill yet. I expect one at the beginning of January. Biggest problems are Constipation, some gall bladder/pancreas issues, and the extra skin. Nervous eating is returning and I'm working hard to keep my focus. Still no real hunger. Weather is cold and I just cannot make myself go out to exercise. I did lots of mall walking before Christmas. Is anyone else noticing that they are cold all the time?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone else is having problems like I am. I have gotten 2 fills so far and after the 2nd one I had to go back in and have them take some out because I couldn't keep anything down. I had a 3rd fill scheduled but cancelled because so many of my friends are telling me that the amount that I'm eating isn't enough. So if I go out to eat I try and eat a little more and it ends up coming back up. Is it because of not chewing good enough? Or eating too fast? Just gets really frustrating when I have to go into the bathroom so much after eating. Do you think I should make an appt for a fill and make sure everything looks ok on the flouroscope? Any ideas?:help:

Thanks,

Karen

I had my surgery on 9/13 and have lost over 50 pounds already. I had one fill at about 7 weeks and felt super restricted. Lately it seems like I can eat more than usual and I don't feel satisfied for as long as before. I have an appt. on 1/3 and will ask the dr. for a fill. Maybe I just need a little adjustment to start losing again.

I struggled through the holidays because in my family I am known for baking 12-15 different kind of Cookies every year. I didn't want to let anybody down just because my way of living has changed. So I baked and baked, and baked. With so many yummy Cookies around (before they reached their various destinations) I was like a crazed maniac. I seriously opened the cookie containers at least twice an hour just to smell them. I wanted to eat every last one. I won't lie, I tasted a few but was able to walk away. I think that is a small victory for me, before I would have eaten till I was sick.

Just yesterday I purchased a new shirt to wear out with my friends for New Year's Eve. I didn't have the time to try it on so I just brought it home and hoped it would fit. I haven't worn an XL shirt for a really really long time. When I tried it on I couldn't believe that it was me in the mirror! I called my best friend to come over and see it too. I know this sounds silly but I think that for the first time I have actually "seen" the change in myself. It finally dawned on me, I'm not a 271 pound woman anymore! OMG what a feeling!

:whoo:

My surgery was sept 11 and so far i am down 47 pounds. Seems so dang slow to me that I tend to get fustrated. I started at a size 20, now wearing a 16. A 16 in misses not a 16w. I was wearing a 2x top and now i can do an xl in misses and some larges depends how they are cut. I actually have a shape to my body now and it looks nice and curvy, lol. I have less than 8 pounds to go to be under 200 and that makes me jump for joy. Less than 18 pounds and i will be overweight and not obese. Thank God!

I had my surgery 9/19/07 and have thusfar lost 60 lbs. I have also gone from a size 26-28(tight) to a size 20/22 depending on the cut. And down 2 shoe sizes from a 10w, to a 9w. I have had one filled 10/04/07 and will see the doctor again at the end of January. I have good restriction in the morning. I have been working out atleast 3x week, and walking the other days. I have also signed up for a belly dancing class which starts next week.

I see hugh(pun intended) differences in my stamina, outlook on life my sex life and how I sleep. All have vastly improved. I am looking forward to buying cloths next spring. (i've been getting clots off of freecycle.org). Why buy when my size seems to change weekly ?

Also am glad the holidays are over. This was the first year that I didn't cook a turkey, why bother as I can eat poultry of any type--makes me way sick. so we had ham instead with yummy sdes. Funny how hard it is to cook without tasting things, but I survived it.

It is nice to wear a Large (instead of XL) now. I haven't lost a ton, but it is still 1/3 of my way to goal. I think I am a little OVER RESTRICTED, so I am limited to softer foods and they tend to be higher in calories - the other things is I am not eating enough at all. I am lucky to squeeze in 800 calories, and my body is adjusting - I am taking lots of Protein, but I need more calories on board, especially with working out.

Maybe my doc will take a little out next week when I go... I am sick of food hurting so much that I just don't bother eating...

i love hearing everybody is doing so well. i amnot doing so well. i was banded on sept23rd. i have had 2 fills. my third one will be on jan 10th. i have only lost 16 pds. i go to the gym 4 times a week. i take a weight class twice a week and do cardio twice a week( 3miles on treadmill or bike). i can eat anythin at anythime without any problem. i pray this fill will give me the restrictions so may of you are feeling. and for those who have restrictions, cherish it. i wish i were you. my goal was to have lost at least 25-30 pds by now. how dissapointing. i feel such the failure.:cry

You are doing awesome! I need to get my ass in gear. I have only lost 40 lbs so far, but it is because I have ate some bad things. Plus, I need to exercise. Keep up the good work! You are helping to inspire others!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
