When can you drive after surgery?

Recommended Posts

When did you drive after your VSG? I need to get myself home from airport after 4 days— is this reasonable? I drove the 2nd day after my laparoscopic hysterectomy in November…I hate pain meds, so nothing more than ibuprofen really on board.

I drove 4 days after. You have to be off all narcotics (if you're on them at all)

Great thanks — im specifically asking NOT to be put on any narcotics, they make me really sick. I think i should be okay to drive the 30 mins home from airport then, and if not, I can get an Uber.

Appreciate the reply!

I was cleared to drive at my 3-week check up. NSAIDs are a no-no. Oh wait, you're getting the sleeve... You probably will be able to do ibuprofen.

I think you could drive a few days after but it may be very uncomfortable due to the stitches healing and/or soreness in general. Depends on how long your drive will be too. I think anything over an hour would have been extremely difficult for me to stay in that position for that long that soon after surgery. I just took Tylenol otc after surgery.

I am fairly sure my surgery center suggested not driving for 48 hours but my husband didn't want me to drive for a week because he was worried about me (luckily we both work from home so there wasn't very much need for me to drive). After four days unless you're having issues you should be ok for at least a short drive. Just be careful.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
