Hi all,

I’m 6 weeks post op from my VGS. I take 9 pills in the morning and 7 at night, plus Vitamin chewables and calcium chews. Taking meds takes me FOREVER every day with taking one pill at a time and then the 10 min wait in between each one. By the time I finish my morning meds it’s lunch time and half my day is gone.

Will I ever be able to take all my meds at once again? This is killing me!

Yes it does get quicker and easier, we all take a different time to get there though. I am still in the habit of breaking up my largest tablets because I would hate to get them stuck, they taste vile. The early days seem like a chore, it seems like it is drink eat and repeat all day. Congratulations on your progress so far.

were you told to take them all ten minutes apart? I always took a handful at Breakfast time, another handful late afternoon - and then my two extra calcium chews spaced out. Then Iron before going to bed. I never was told to wait 10 minutes after each one...

Yeah, they told me 15 minutes in the beginning and then just the other day during my 6 week post op appointment they said 10 minutes between each. It’s so exhausting.

wow - that's the first time I've heard this. Hmmm. Not sure what to make of it. Well, I guess they have their reasons..

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
