I know were not gonna lose 20lbs a month. But.. I really liked the progress in the start!!!!!!

I am a little frustrated but not super... I will just keep on. I always feel I am eating to much though... I need to get on that.

So I'm incredibly disappointed in my progress so far. I was sleeved on March 7th and I've only lost 15 lbs. I know everyone is different and we're not supposed to compare but I'm a little panicked.

Would someone mind sharing how they've done this month after surgery?

I did contact my Nutritionist and asked her how many calories I should be eating a day and she said not to worry about that right now. Just concentrate on getting my Protein and Water in, which I am doing.

I feel the exact same. I was on a 30 day pre-op diet and lost 18lbs. I was sleeved on 03/20 and have only lost 10lbs since surgery. I was cleared for exercise last week so i have been doing growwithjo youtube videos. I was stalled from 1 week post op until last week with no weight loss at all. I am also at stage 3 so i can eat soft foods, during the pureed stage which started 2 days post op i just ate canned food mashed with a fork because pureed texture disgust me. Let's all hope we reach our goals sending you all lots of love ❤️

I thought my progress was slow going, too. Even this week I'm feeling a little down about it. But two steps forward and one step back is still progress (my daily affirmation lol), even if it's not what we're hoping to see.

I've had my sleeve surgery on March 23rd. I was 326 lbs before the liquid diet, dropped down to 310 just a day before surgery and now I'm between 271 and 275.

Today (April 20th) kinda marks my 1 month post op and I've been hospitalized twice! The first time happened was when I was switching over to a Multivitamin pill from a chewable. (2 weeks post op) Once I popped that pill and swallowed it, I felt it opened in my stomach and left a extremely bitter taste and threw up all of my medication and made me weak. Went to the hospital and they said that I was dehydrated. Thank you multivitamin pill for making me feel this way. They gave me IV and sent me home the same day.

The second time, which was last Saturday (4/15), I was sitting on my couch taking a little nap because I was a little tired. I woke up and left my plate from my lunch on my table. I got up, took it in the kitchen and right away felt so exhausted! My partner saw me and said what's wrong? I remember saying help me to the couch. 15 seconds later and I was on the floor by my bathroom. I've actually lost consciousness for 15 seconds and let's just say that I didn't make it to the toilet in time... Went back to the hospital for test and lab work and my red blood cells were at a all time low. They gave me IV and magnesium. Stayed overnight. When my levels were somewhat normal, they sent me home.

Today, had an appointment with my regular doctor. He said that I'm mild anemic and things will slowly get better overtime. I have another appointment to go to tomorrow and that's with my bariatric surgeon. Almost everyday, im having nausea. Making it a little difficult to take my medication/vitamins and eat/drink. If I knew my body would be going through this, I never would have did this!

I found this image and it has given me so much comfort.

I've also been doing a lot of Googling bc my surgery center hasn't given much guidance around anything other than Protein and liquid goals.

From what I've read, at this time post-op I should be getting around 500 cals per day, and eating 1/4 c. to 1/2 c. at each sitting (every 3-4 hrs). For reference, I was sleeved on 3/24/23.

I look at multiple sites of reputable surgery centers before I decide what to "believe".

Hang in there friends! We got this!

This helps me so much! I have to remember I'm in the middle of my recovery/healing stages. I'm actually feeling a little better due to tons of rest, sipping liquids and meaty soups! One thing that I learned about my body is that it's a very slow healing machine. I'm just freaking out because my body didn't know what to do or how to react and is giving me false signals. I have to remember that time is key!

Anyone else struggling with Water and Protein intake? My surgery was 3/28/23. I was doing well with water and Clear Liquids but then the sweet fatigue hit and I just started throwing up anything sweet. I tried broth and same thing. I tried Protein Shakes and that has traumatized me since throwing it up. So far I've gotten down cranberry juice mixed with water cause I love sour.

Same boat. I can't do anything Protein Drink, Protein water, Protein Powder. Probably same reason too (I got the flu on 3 days PO and violently puked up my Protein Drinks for 24 hrs). I recently tried the Koia brand and they're pea protein/vegan and it's much gentler on my stomach but I still nurse them. My doctor is happier with me getting protein from whole foods and not rely on the artificial nutrition so she says not to worry and just try my best.

It’s all an adjustment. Stay encourage and you’ll get by. Just slow down and try to get on a comfortable schedule. I’m 5wks post op and I don’t swallow a pill. stick to the chewable and try to Patches.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
