wombat,

oh, i know about the 2 stomachs ... (one that is above the compression garment and the one being sucked in...)

my arms and inner thighs are 'skinny' (as in lots of skin) and wrinkly, but my lower stomach is my main problem. going to get that taken care of in 70 days ... :whoo:

In order to prevent saggy baggy skin, you have to keep your skin HYDRATED.

I know a girl from work who had Gastric Bypass, and her Dr told her to apply lotion several times a day to prevent saggy skin. Something about keeping it hydrated makes it more supple and more elastic, and allows it to "shrink to fit" your new thinner body.

I don't know if this works or not, but I do know that this girl has lost well over 100lbs, and does not have saggy skin or even stretchmarks that are noticeable. She does have very faint stretch marks but you have to get VERY close to even see them. Also, she keeps a tan to minimize their appearance.

This could just be a coincidence, or it COULD be the lotion... who knows, but I got my band on Nov. 21st, and lotion is my new best friend.

Even if it doesn't help the saggy skin, it can't hurt.

Plus, I keep thinking all this massaging HAS to be breaking up the cellulite too... lol

how old was your coworker? doesn't age make a difference in the elasticity of skin?

It does make a huge difference. That along with genetics, duration of obesity, distribution of the fat (a majority of the weight was in one area type thing) the general condition of the skin, and smoking.

While staying hydrated is great for the body, it does little for the skin.

No exercise, lotion or supplement known to man or woman can prevent, or fix excess skin.

If you are going to end up with excess skin, you will end up with excess skin. Full stop. Nothing is going to prevent it, nothing is going to fix it.

I suppose age does play a role in it... she is 46... I am 43... so,I figure we have the same age range going on.

Well, I am not taking any chances.. and I want to do everything possible that even MIGHT help... so I will be using the lotion.

I wasn't saying NOT to. I was just saying that it is highly unlikely to work.

QuasiTova,

Thanks for the reply on the age. I haven't been banded yet but I'm also using lotion. I figured 40+ didn't have a chance but your coworker gives me hope. I've seen others here and rny that have toned it all up and had no excess skin, but most have been under 40. I'm with you...worth a try.

See, I don't expect to have much firming, myself. I mean, I can do some weights and whatnot to get some toning in before hand, but I really have to wonder just how much good it'll actually do once the banding is done? Which by the way, I FINALLY got my doctor to say, YES! Yea!

However, after all of my expected weight loss, I know I'll have saggy skin issues. So I'll start saving up for some surgery. Let's see. If I start seeing my band doctor next month, and I'm not banded for another 6 months, then add another year until I can do the surgery...wow, hope I can save that much. Lol. Anyone know how much it may cost to get all of this 'extra' skeived off?

My Doc said I will have to have PS to fix my tiger belly, no matter what kind of exercise i do. I had three ten lb babies and got fat after its damaged and even though ive lost forty eight lbs so far my stomach is sagging allready, its really ugly but he said if i exersice my legs and arms wont be so bad. Im praying and also thinking of buying a lotion plant and swim in it daily!!!

lol

anyway i saw a thread on a guy who had a Tummy Tuck and it looks narley, in fact it frightened me. but if you go this far to loose it dont u want your belly gone too?

oh well thats way down the line

Jo Ann,

You have my complete and total admiration! 3 10 pound children? Wow, that's quite an accomplishment. I only have two boys, both born at 7lb 6oz. But they were back to back. Feb 12th and May 12th. Aside from them, have you heard of any specific lotions that work better than others maybe? Like Aveno vs Jergens? Any info at this stage is great. If there's nothing special, then heck, I'm gonna use the tons of pretty lotions that I have around here. Like my Victoria Secrets lotion. Mm...sexy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
