Was your surgery stay same day or multiple day?

thoughts on your experience either way?

I was outpatient - I checked in at 10am, my surgery was at noon and I was on my way home before 5. I have a lot of thoughts about my experience but none of them are based upon staying or not staying overnight. I was happy to be in my own home that evening but I would have been okay to stay if it was required. I was nodding out for the first 24 anyway!

Surgery was on Tuesday, I was discharged Thursday. That being said, I had surgery in Mx, which often includes a longer hospital stay than in the US. Additionally, after being discharged to a hotel, a doctor came to do a quick check up and wound care that evening.

Mine was overnight. In at 7 AM, surgery at 9, stayed the night and was discharged before 1 PM the following day. I would say that it was good since I had an IV for fluids and pain meds. I had nurse there incase there was trouble and of course the nurses could answer questions. It was a good, if not great, experience.

My stay was one night. It was supposed to be two but I was doing well so they let me go early.

Stayed overnight for my sleeve. I could have stayed 2 nights if i wanted. Glad i did stay overnight. The IV kept me hydrated and i got medication throughout my night via IV.

most people spend one night at the hospital, but that varies...

It really depends upon your recovery & your surgeon’s requirements. Mine keeps his patients in overnight but because I lived alone he wanted me to stay a second night. The morning I was to be discharged my back went into spasm & I was in a lot of pain (tears running down my face) so he had me stay a third night. Went home the next day & the rest of my recovery went smoothly.

I had the sleeve surgery in 2015. Went home the same day. Outpatient.

I had gastric bypass and I stayed in the hospital one night. I was very eager to go home, but the one thing I didn’t fully realize until I got home is that it was very difficult to get enough fluids those first several days. While I was in the hospital, I didn’t have to worry about dehydration because they were pumping me full of fluids, and I was well hydrated when I was discharged, so it was probably a good thing that they made me stay overnight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
