Everyone is doing so well. :clap2: I just had my second fill yesterday. It was a bit early, but my doctor is so busy, it was either three weeks or six weeks to wait, and I we decided to go with sooner. I was shocked to discover I'd lost 8 pounds in that time -- what with the holidays and all. I feel like so far this weight loss is effortless. I don't feel like I have a full restriction, and it seems like I'm eating whatever I want. But when I take time to figure out the calories, I've only eaten about 1100.

Anyway -- weight loss to date is 47 pounds. Fifty pounds is right around the corner. I'm extremely happy!

It is so good to see everyone doing well! I had surgery on 11/30 and I've lost 17 pounds so far. I have my first fill on 1/11 and I can't wait!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and Blessed New Year!

Banded 11/27 and have lost a little over 16 pounds. I've always been a slow loser and I'm older and not very active, so I'm pleased so far.

First fill did nothing. Next fill is 1/3/8. Hope ithe fill restricts me for at least a month. My goal is to get as close to 190 as possible by end of Jan. I hope I can lose 8 pounds in Jan. but will settle for six!

Noticing I'm getting hungier. Up to now I haven;t been interested in eating until about 11:30 am. This a.m. I was hungry as soon as I woke up.

I had my first real indulgence. One piece of Belgian chocolate. It was heaven. It was a small box of 6 and they're none left ( my husband ate the rest).

My treadmill in the basement keeps yelling at me to come down and use it... I just keep shutting the basement shut, so I can't hear it! LOL

Great job, November Bandsters!

What does it mean to be a november nymph? I was banded on 11/14- am I elligible? What do I have to do? Happy new year to you all! :)

I see that you were banded in Nov. 07. That makes you part of the club. (sorry no secret handshake)

Welcome to another Nymph. Now all you have to do is decide if you want to be a nasty bug type nymph (like me) or one of them purdy wing-ed ladies. :scales:

Welcome aboard!

Lost 1 pound over Christmas and New Years! I have a hard time believing that... but that is what the scale said.

Got my first fill today!

I lost 1 lb over the holidays as well .. I'm still in shock. Of course how long that will last without a fill I don't know. I'm going to cut back completely today, even if I starve just to get back on track.

I'm down 27 lbs including the presurgery diet. I'm thrilled to death with that.

As many of you know I still attend Weight Watchers. For me it's a way of keep on track and making it to goal. I've never told them that I was banded. Don't think it's really any of their concern. Any way I have lost 10% of my initial body weight and got my 25 Lb token.

I have lost 42 lbs.pre and post op. Surgery was 11-08. I have had 1 fill that I thought was going to kill me. It has settled down and I am more comfortable now. The best news is I am now a onester! I'm at 197. I never thought I'd make it. The holidays weren't bad at all. If I overate I got sick so that was a good incentive not to eat. Glad to hear you all did pretty good over the holidays.

Ok Peeps!

I am down 60lbs since August 23rd (preop appt). I couldn't be more happy with the results thus far. Had my first fill today and everything as smooth as silk. Looking forward to more successes and getting restriction.

Everyone is doing so well. Keep up the great work everybody!

You all are doing fabulously! I was finally banded 12/17, so Christmas wasn't too difficult because I couldn't do anything! I was still on liquids and sore, so my husband and I spent Christmas day with our kitties.

Yesterday was my first post-op appointment and I am officially down 15 pounds from my surgery weight and 27 pounds down from the middle of September when I was at my highest. I can't get a fill until mid February due to scheduling issues, so hopefully I will be able to maintain my current eating habits until then.

Hi all,

I believe I fit into the nymphs as I had my surgery on 11/15/07. So far I am down a total of 36#'s. The majority of which is from the 2week pre-op and 1 week post op. I have the VG band and am scheduled for my 2nd fill on 1/22/08 I can not wait as I feel no restriction yet and the weight loss has come to a halt.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
