Good Morning -I have been reading all of the questions and answers and a lot of them helped, first time posting cause I need some help. Four weeks post-op, down 39 lbs. The Constipation hit me. About 8 hours running back and forth one night, finally passed at 1:15 in morning. Now in lots of pain. Phoned my doctor, they have me on 2 pills twice a day, stool softener, 1 dose Miralax and one dose Milk of Magnesia. Now I can't stay out of bathroom. I think this is too much laxatives. What is everyone on daily that helps stay regular. Sorry for the TMI.

yea - that sounds like something I would do only if I was hugely backed up and needed it to pass - NOT as a daily routine to keep on top of it.

for the latter, a lot of us take a capful of Miralax every day. I've been doing that for the last 6-7 years.

Yea I took milk of magnesia to get it to pass but once it did I just took benefiber daily to keep me regular. And once I got back to a normal serving size of food I was able to wean myself off of that (some people need to take it forever though). Tip. Walmart has a generic benefiber powder that worked just fine.

I just got over a bout of Constipation (second one since surgery on March 3). I find if I take regular Colace (or generic equivalent) once a day and take a dose of Miralax once a day it keeps me regular and soft. Both of my cases of constipation have occurred because I forgot to take the Miralax for about 2 days. I swear I won't forget again. To get over my constipation I took a dose of Miralax every 8-12 hours until the cork popped. I have a bottle of magnesium citrate in case the Miralax doesn't do it . I almost drank it last night but I decided to wait until morning...good thing because at 4 AM my cork popped and I almost cried with relief!

Constipation is very common. But the dosage you’re having all sounds too extreme & are suffering as a result. ☹️ It may take a little while for your body to actually get back into some sort of routine after this & also to have anything to excrete. You’ve basically cleaned yourself out.

I took benefibre every day & only a single stool softener when needed. Usually after three days of no movement to keep on top of it like @catwoman7. It wasn’t an every week thing. I also had rolled oats most morning from purée stage - good fibre.

You’re not consuming much to begin so your movements tend to be small & you may not go every day until you are eating a greater volume of food each day.

Once I got past the first few months post-op, I started putting 1 tsp of Miralax in my coffee every morning. That little bit has helped me keep regular. Every now and then, I may put it in my evening tea/coffee if I feel I need it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
