After surgery am I doomed to a life of throwing up???

Recommended Posts

Okay--here I am, the "fly in the ointment." I am 7 weeks post-op. I get nauseated quite a bit, really every day. My doctor says it isn't unusual, some people do. My advice? There are a TON of different meds for that. Had me on a patch when I woke up, then gave me pills. which didn't help a lot, so then he changed it, and I'm all good! He said it would eventually go away. But as long as I have meds to counteract it, I'm fine!

My love I am about 4 weeks post op and as of yet I haven’t thrown up. Only time I felt nauseous was eating my Multivitamin chewable. I eat small bites and take my time.

You learn what works for you super fast. I've thrown up ... 6 times? I think over the course of 15 months. Somehow beef meatballs is what gets me.

Twice it has happened because I accidentally took a big gulp of Water right after eating without thinking about it, because I can drink pretty much as 'before' if on an empty stomach.

'The other end' as OP said - yeah, that has happened more and will happen with malabsorptive procedures. It hasn't been a problem, though.

I never did get nauseous. No food makes me feel bad. I wish it did.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
