Bowel movements

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

abit TMI but I’m currently 9 days into my pre op LRD and I’ve noticed my bowel movements are not as regular as I’ve known them to be previously. I can now go 2 days without passing.

Is this expected due to the little amount of calories ? Has anyone else had or have the same issue ?

Thankyou! :)

Yes, every couple of days seems to be the norm now

In the beginning.... if it was every couple of days I considered myself LUCKY! Once you get moving again, I've found that helps a lot (in addition to fluids).

not only right after surgery, but even years out, some of us deal with chronic Constipation.

right after surgery it's probably more a factor of the anesthesia - plus the fact there's not much in there to come out.

once you get beyond that, the high Protein diet plus some of the supplements we take - namely Calcium and Iron - can cause backup. A lot of long-timers take a capful of Miralax every morning to keep on top of it (other things can help as well - magnesium tablets, stool softeners, etc....)

Not to worry, perfectly normal. You're creating less waste to release. Now 3 years post-op I am regular daily.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
