Lap band yesterdayi

Recommended Posts

I just had my surgery yesterday and seem to be doing fine. It was out patient surgery so I am home. I talked to the drs. office about what I should be eating/drinking. They told me only Clear Liquids for the next 2 days. At room temp. Tea/Crystal Lite, broth none of that is good at room temp. Could some of you tell me what you did for the first couple of days following surgery? Thanks Peachie

My doctor had me on liquids, then mushies then solids. My first few months was a slow process because I didn't have good restriction until 6 months out. Just take it easy, heal and wait for fills. Good luck.

I too was banded yesterday (12-11) I have been drinking Water and apple juice so far today. I am going to try a Protein Drink tomorrow and see if I can get that down. It has been taking forever for me to get a glass down today, but have managed to drink 32 oz of water and 6 oz of juice. The only pain I have seems to be from the surgical gas that I feel in my left collarbone area. Good Luck!

Mine was yesterday, too. I feel very sore. I was hoping to return to work today, obviously a crazy thought. I still need to take out the pain buster catheter. I am a bit scared of being off that pain med...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
