Editing, is a real challenge here!!!

Welcome to LBT!!! Glad you come out of lurker mode!

Congrats on your surgery date--it will be here before you know it! Get all your things together, so you can take it easy for a few days when you get home. Have some liquid Protein items on hand, liquid Tylenol--heating pad---and your slippers---you will want to do lots of walking!

Hang out, so your last minute nerves can be reassured for you---most of us got them!

I look forward to hearing how it goes for you!!

Welcome!

Kat

Congrats on the date, I am December 31. My doctor requires 1000 calories a day, 35g fat, 55g Protein, liquid diet. Try the Slim fast cans, 10g protein, 140 calories. You can mix those in everyday. I start the liquid on December 17, my doc calls for two weeks.

:clap2:Congratulations Jalee. I just found out this week that my insurance approved the surgery. I go for pre-op next week and dr. visit. I start my liquid diet after that. I don't have a date yet but should know next week. I bought the GNC mix berry Protein, why drink. It's not bad. I have been trying to get used to it. I like it with ice in it. I hope that's ok. I look each time I shop for something I think I can have on the pre-op diet. Good luck to you. Felicia

for my pre-op diet, I drank Glucerna (due to diabetes) and to tell you the truth, it was pretty good. I've used both the chocolate and the Butter Pecan. The butter pecan actually tastes like ice cream.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
