Hi I'm 10 days post op and yesterday I was feeling very low energy and almost sick so I drank 1 protien shake in the am and the rest of the day I had nothing but Water and chicken broth. But I today i feel like I could chug bottles and bottles of water and idk if my shakes and water are just going right through me but I don't have feel that full feeling. I'm nervous, I've heard you can't stretch your pouch I heard you can. I actually feel kinda hungry today. Also i don't feel that like weird pain as soon as water hits my stomach like before when I drank a little too much. Is there something wrong with me? 😧

No advice but I am 13 days post op and feeling like this today! Such low energy which is making my mood low and only managed a smoothie so far today. I’m guessing it’s normal if we have similar feelings?

This is fairly in line with what I experienced. Some days are going to be better than others. liquids definitely pass through the stomach/pouch faster than do solid foods (which you wouldn't yet be eating if you were on my plan, yours may be different). I'd read you cannot stretch your pouch, it is just the perception of stretching as you compare the early days intake capacity (when you are very swollen) with later intake (when you aren't swollen) and think it stretched. Swelling can last quite a long time, months at least. You won't feel fullness for a while, especially on liquids, your nerves are still healing.

You feel low on energy because your calorie intake is far lower than you're used to consuming. Make sure that you are getting your Protein intake that your dr recommended. I'd skip the broth and substitute something with protein. If you're drinking liquids slowly you probably won't get the full feeling because it's moving through your pouch. Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. The more you heal, it's easier to drink liquids without feeling that strange stomach feeling.

I think the fullness feeling from the restriction is supposed to kick in once you start eating solid food. The liquids apparently go through quickly.

I also have had feelings of hunger (bad hunger pangs) right after surgery & a few times since, I asked my doctor and he said it is normal to feel that and it will get better. I wonder if it is also my brain interpreting other feelings (acid, healing, etc) as hunger.

I am only about 12 days out, so there will be better answers from veteran sleevers. Wishing you all lots of luck with your healing & progress.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
