Recommended Posts

Hi I'm new here just getting started in the process. Had my first visit with the surgeon and I'm currently working on my checklist. sleep study scheduled for next month. My first visit with the nutritionist isn't until October(seems like a long time to me), I'm currently seeing a nutritionist on a referral from my pcp does anyone know if this can be used as my 6 months of visits with a nutritionist?

Hi first of all I want to say congratulations on taking the first step to getting to where you want to be on your health journey. My surgery is coming up this Friday. I’m not sure if I’m answering you correctly but I will say this, I was speaking with a nutritionist through Medicaid for some months before I even got in with a surgeon dr. Once I did though, I had to be in his program for six months, though mines was longer but that’s his requirements. I was in it longer because He wanted me to lose 100 pounds on my own before we could actually have the surgery. But once I lose it I did have to meet with their office nutritionist even though I was speaking with one. Though it was only a one time thing. It was more like I had to see the surgeon every month so he can see how I’m doing as well prescribe me this appetite suppressant. I do not know if everyone is the same or not.

Thanks for the info you answered my question

that depends on your insurance, so I'd call them. In my case, yes, they did count the six-month program I did with a dietitian before I entered the bariatric program (in fact, they said they would count any six-month professionally supervised program I did if it was within the previous two years, as long as it was well-documented). But that might not be true of all insurance companies. I'd call them and ask.

Hi there if all went as planned you should've had your procedure by now, just checking in to see how you're doing

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
