So I finally got a new scale and my weight is higher than I thought. I'm 10 weeks post op and I've lost 25 pounds. And I don't think I've lost anything in a month or more. Starting weight was 316 on day of surgery. I'm bouncing between 292 and 288. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? I'm only walking at the moment for exercise. I'm between 800 and 1000 calories daily. How is my body holding onto it's excess at such a calorie deficit???

First, congratulations on the 25lbs! Great start toward your goal!

One thing that has, in the past, always helped me kick start a weight loss is to add in (or increase) resistance training. Whether you are doing body weight exercises, lifting weights, or something else, anything you can do to increase your lean muscle mass will help with losing weight, because muscle burns more calories.

You might try changing your cardio too--add intervals of increased speed, jog a little if possible, bike, swim, do an exercise class. Our bodies get used to certain activities and can adapt to the pressures of those activities so it doesn't have to burn as many calories to do them. Change things up a bit and it can start shifting weight too.

if you are following your program to a "T", the weight WILL come off, whether fast or slow. I was a slow-loser from the get-go and ended up losing over 200 lbs. I was super committed though - almost never went off my program for the first year.

Congrats on your weight loss so far. It’s likely you’ve been experiencing a stall. They’re extremely common at the 3 week+/- mark & can last 1 - 3 weeks. It’s just your body taking a breath after all the changes. You may experience a couple of stalls as you’re losing. You’ll start to lose again. Stick to your plan & you’ll be fine.

I'm not sure I've been following close enough. I'll try to get back to basics. You're an inspiration!

Fluctuations are quite normal & not a signal you’re doing something wrong. They can be from constipation, Fluid retention, slight change in diet or activity level,… The other night I was peeing every 30 minutes for hours & in the morning I was 2lbs lighter. It happens. Even though I weighed myself every day when I was losing, the downward trend on my weight loss graph over each week, then each month was more important.

      I loss 19 pounds my first 7 days post op 🙌🏽 (Water weight or real weight.. weight is weight to me.. I’ll take it lol) I make sure I keep my water with me 24.7 and I walk every chance I get. I cook dinner for my kids with no problems. I have zero cravings!  By next week I should be in the 200’s. Haven’t been there since high school 🥲

      Well, starting day 2 after surgery. Felling hunger pains again this morning and nausea, no vomiting. I think the hunger pains are coming from my stomach and not my pouch. Think I will call their hotline and speak with them about it. It is not terribly bad but it is uncomfortable. I do not regret getting the surgery though. I expected some discomfort right after, I just didn't expect the hunger pains.

      I have two initial consultations coming up. November 30th I am traveling to Richmond Virginia to VCU and on December 2nd I am consulting with a bariatric surgeon in Salem Virginia. 
      Let's hope my insurance is good for this decision. 
      I wanted an extended tummy tuck but I cannot justify the out of pocket expense yet. Pray for me.
