Quickest process ever with my Surgeon considering

Recommended Posts

I started the gastric bypass process End of April after choking to death on a salad. Who wants to die from a salad. After getting scheduled for exploratory scope foubd out I had a " monster size hienal hernia " per my dr and was scheduled 2 weeks later due to surgery schedules to have it fixed. While waiting for surgery I got dr approval from my primary and all test required by my insurance. The lab work was the hardest to schedule of all things due to limited appointments. This included the Psychiatric Evaluation.

Once I healed from liproscopic surgery, I was seen for pre-op consultation. And scheduled July 14th for Gastric Sleeve. With liquids starting week of. My insurance was Ameriben and my retainer fee for final surgery was 3500. My out of pocket for hernia surgery which was done first was 800 as our family has met deductible for year, just to give you an idea of cost. Dr requires upfront payment and they refund what is left over. My actual cost per insurance should be about 2000.

My Dr. Was Dr. John Debarros a d he us awesome . He is in phoenix, AZ area with WLIA Arizona.

Everyone is different but my journey so far has be pain free and a wonderful experience.

I did not have to do dietian counseling or wait a period of time to get going. But, that said it depends mostly on your insurance.

Stay tuned for part two.

I follow people on tic tok who have had surgery and they offer great tips like the no drinking 30 mins before and after, small sips, genpro as a Protein option that's tasteless and being patient with scale one day to next.

I'm fully stocked on sugar free Jello, Popsicles and pudding. Premier shakes my fav. And Pro20 waters as protein options as well as Better than Boullon broth in beef, chicken and vegetable.

Stay tuned.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! Wishing you lots of luck. I am also having my VSG this month on the 26th. I have been getting tips from people on YouTube, there are great videos there, too.

Hi I'm in AZ too and am looking for more people local on social media (IG happilylacey)

I'm in pre-op too, have finished all my pre-op hoops except two more appts and insurance clearance. I am going through the Dignity Health Weight Loss Center in Gilbert. So far so good, they had a roadmap for me to follow and have made it pretty easy so far.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
