Recommended Posts

How are all the early August surgeries going!? I had mine aug it’s 4th and I’ve seen so many with similar dates. Hope everyone is doing well pre op and post op. I’m still in major pain 3 days after..one specific incision is hurting a lot, but I’ve finally starting taking in more Protein Shakes and some sherbet etc. lmk how you guys are doing !

August 2nd here! All in all it’s been good! Very little pain except for gas but that’s tolerable. For some reason it’s the mornings that tend to be the roughest on my tummy! I’m not sure if it’s cause I’m not drinking all night cause I’m sleeping or what! I wanna say it’s almost in between gas and hunger pain but who knows.

So I’ve been 5 days post op now, I generally feel ok now, much different from when I was in hospital and 1st day of coming home. (Horrible) no nausea and Pain is minimal also. Today I walked outside for almost a mile and went back. I feel ok, sort of winded but ok. I’m still doing pretty much the liquid only diet. I was able to eat a whole sugar free pudding cup today. If you count the pre liquid diet weight loss I think I’m at 23 lbs lost and hoping to lose many more!

My surgery date is August 16th. I’m on my pre-surgery diet on day 6. I’m have extreme insomnia and feel very weak like I might pass out. Is this normal?

I just got home from the hospital. I’m doing ok, no more and no less pain than I imagined. Finding it a bit hard to drink enough but persisting with it. I’m glad it’s done and I can keep going. For those with surgery in the coming days and weeks, listen to your team, you will be great! 💖💖💖💖

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
