Let me start by saying how much I appreciate everyone here and the community! So many questions answered and worries calmed.

I am 2 weeks post-op tomorrow (roux bypass). My pain has consistently been on upper right side, but has stayed well controlled since surgery with very few meds needed, though I do have high pain tolerance.

Concern is, I have bruising in that area, which is not "around" any incisions. I recall getting a shot of something in my stomach the night after surgery while in the hospital. The area with bruising shows mark like maybe that was where shot was given, but hazy to me with meds and coming off anesthesia. Pain seems to not be much better and appt is still 3 days out.

Only other symptoms post-op is still dealing with dizziness and exhausted easily after little activity. Assume that is body adjusting to changes and healing.

Anyone experience the like? Any ideas if just coincidence and is from surgery probably? I attached a photo to give idea of area and such if that helps. And if looks "normal" in area. The darker spots next to bruise and around incisions are clean, not sure why so much discoloration still there.

Figured I'd ask here before freaking out and having to get to doctor earlier.

I appreciate you all!

I had Heparin shots while at the hospital and just noticed significant bruising from it. I wonder if that is what yours is?

^^^ yes - Heparin is the shot you get in the stomach - to prevent blood clots. That may be what the bruise is from

I had the same thing. Doctor told me it was the Heparin. Took about 2-3 weeks for Bruising to fade.

Thank you all! I figured was something like that and I was too dazed to remember! Appreciate your feedback!

Only concern was that was where pain is and figured coincidence, just wanted to check with others that had bypass to ease the little anxiety I have (and my husband) of my localized pain.

I've had over a dozen surgeries, and we sure do end up with bruising everywhere, GummyBearQueen! Most have healed already and I am well on my way to recovery. Hope you are as well! Best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
