Was I Even Banded?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on Nov. 26th. I have the APL band, the 14cc band, and I have 5 cc's in there now, however, I feel like I do not have a band at all. It is so weird. When I got the fill, for that next week I could barely eat, I lost 8 pounds and only had Protein Shakes and Soup in that week. But then, I got hungry, I started eating, and now I cannot stop. I dont even feel like i have a band there. I have NO restriction. NONE. I have eaten like a maniac lately. I am so bummed out. I have gained at least 4 of those 8 pounds back. I just dont know what to do.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Paragirl - try to hang in there. I'm not doing much better at the moment. I have 3 cc's in a 14cc band and don't go in again until 12/20 for another fill. I can't tell that I've had a fill at all either. I am eating a lot less, but that's only with will power and that's getting weaker by the moment. I also haven't lost any weight in the past 7-10 days and that can be really frustrating. I keep telling myself to be patient. This happened to me at about the 4 week point and then I snapped out of it and was loosing about 4 pounds a week. So I keep telling myself that I'll snap out of this slump also.

When is your next fill? If it's not soon, you should call and try and get in. Don't let it go too long and remember you're not alone in this battle.

I know how you feel!! I am just getting started and feel a little bothered by how long it takes to get to actual serious weight loss. I also feel that any weight loss I have had so far, I could have done without the band. However, I keep reading that patience will pay off, and it will all start working when we get to the right fill place. My first fill is 12/13/07, so I am really hoping for some restriction...starving right along with you!

Well, I went in to get another fill and because I had lost 4 pounds in two weeks, they would not fill me. Bummer. I will have to do better and not rely on the band 100%. I am tracking my food and all that right now using fitday.com. I sure hope I do better, my next appointment is Jan. 2.

I was banded on 10-8-07 and have had 1 fill. The majority of the time I really don't feel any restrictions. I do get down on myself because I feel like I'm not loosing enough weight. It is very frustrating. But Im trying to be patient. I feel better knowing that I am not alone.

my god, I've FINALLY found a thread I can relate to! I had my lapband 10/3. The first 2 weeks I lost 14 lbs (8 the first, 6 the next), then could not feel any restriction. Gained 2 lbs but lost it by sticking to a 900 calorie diet. Got my first fill 11/19 and felt a little resriction for about 3-4 days. I have lost no further weight, feel no restriction and I'm starving. My next fill is 1/22, and I want to go back to the dr earlier, but because Jan is so hectic at the office, I can't reschedule enough time to get to the dr before rush hour starts (I live in the metro DC area, traffic is hell). I am trying to stick to a more rigid diet, but not doing real well. It's just such a relief to know that someone else knows what I am going through! I hope you start losing soon. I hope I start losing soon! It really made me wonder when I read some of the postings where they are losing a good amount of weight, if there was something wrong with me! I sure hope we both start losing soon. Laura

Laura you are not alone!!! I feel like I am hungry the majority of the time. It is as if I have no self control at times. I miss one thing though Im not able to eat bread. What about you?

I still find myself thinking what am I going to eat next? Focusing the majority of my thoughts on food. I pray daily and try to focus my thoughts on Him. Good Luck to you.

I can eat bread, pizza, spegetti, beef, pork, you name it. Of course, it does not help that my friend's hobby is cooking. Don't forget banana bread and chocolate cake!! Can't wait for my 2nd fill. Laura

i'm with ya!!!!...can't eat spaghetti though...well...it doesn't get stuck, but it is just hard to chew to mush..

..add to that list..cheesburger's, steak, burritos, corn dogs, grilled cheese. and i have 6.5 cc's in my band.

Hi, I had my surgery 10/16/2007 and I lost about 30 - 35 lbs so fare but it seems I've gained 2 lbs back. I have less restrictions I had my first tightning November 23 2007...what is up with that? I also called the doctors office cause I didn't know what size my band was or the cc I have learned alot from this site. My cc is 3.4 and the nurse said she thinks my band is a 10 what does this all mean? Helpvipm.thischurch.org

I was complaining earlier about no restriction. Well, today I sat down for lunch, had 1/2 cup of Soup (didn't want to hurt friend's feelings because I really didn't like it), thenstarted to eat part of a gyro. After about 4 bites, I got that tight sensation in my chest! So I'm happy, my band is still there it seems. yaaaaaaa! :) Laura

I am with ya'll too... had restriction with my first fill... now I have none.... they won't fill me either because of the more than 2 pounds a week average thing... but I guess I shouldn't complain... I am losing even though I am gaining...

Does that make sense? Yeah - not to me either...

Amy

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
