most people experience their first major stall sometime within the first month or so after surgery. It's usually the third week, but not always. Mine was weeks 2 & 3. Yours is pretty early - although that's not unheard of.

I’m 14 days post op. I lost 12 pounds the first week and three the next then this morning I’m up 2 pounds. I’ve always fluctuated day by day so I’m not gonna worry much

I’m glad you posted this, I am experiencing the same. I was sleeved on 4/26, lost 16 the week before on Clear Liquids, only 6 in the week of surgery. I am down 2 lbs this week so far, so I think on track to be another slow week. Feeling kind of discouraged but trying to stay hopeful! I wonder if I am just not being active enough.

At my two week follow up, I was down 8 pounds. I asked them about whether that was low and they said people are all over the place in the first few weeks and they don’t benchmark until 2 months out

ARRRGGHH this damn thing won't let me edit! Or delete! Anyway, I was a slow loser from the get-go, and I ended up losing 100% of my excess weight (over 200 lbs). Your eventual success is due to your level of commitment, not your rate of weight loss. Besides, rate of weight loss is dependent on several factors, only two of which - activity level and how closely you stick to your program - you have much control over. The other things that influence it - age, gender, metabolic rate, genetics, starting BMI - you really have little to no control over. So if you do well with those first two, you WILL lose the weight. So don't fear being a slow loser - many of us were, and we still lost the weight..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
