Day 3 was so hard for me, but by day 5 there really is a breakthrough. Amazing that you lost 15% pre op... I lost nothing until the liver shrink started. My surgery is Tuesday... Good luck to you! You've already come so far - you totally got this.

Thank you so much for the positive encouragement. I know I’ll get there. I’ve been really hard on myself because I don’t see any change in the mirror. I’ve worked so hard the last 7 months!

I've been on preop diet for 10 days - through my birthday AND wedding anniversary. Its honestly not too bad. 2 Protein Shake, a creamy Soup and a greek yogurt. Sticking to about 800 calories and down 8 pounds. Surgery is in 5 days. Excited and nervous.

I don't technically need to start until Wednesday but I'm trying to start today. My pre-op diet is not all liquid so I'm not exceedingly worried and I'm just ready to start things. It's all starting to feel very real now. I have a feeling the late afternoon and evening will be the hardest for me.

wrapping day 3 of the pre-op diet. mine is 3 Protein Shakes, a small fruit, 1 cup of veggies and 2 tbsp low fat dressing, and 1 frozen entree under 300 cals. about 1000 cals.

having much easier of a time with the hunger than i thought i would... but i'm just sad. i'm doing my best with other coping mechanisms for the comfort that food brings, but nothing is a replacement. nothing can totally offset the big feeling of loss.

My surgery is May 19th and I’m on day 4 of a liquid only diet for 3 weeks. I’ve really been struggling yesterday and today. I’m extremely tired and only want to sleep and have a hard time waking up in the mornings. Is this normal? Does it go away? Thanks!

I don't know if this is normal, but it doesn't surprise me. You are getting probably fewer calories than you're used to. Many people talk about feeling really terrible with headaches and other symptoms when they start the liver shrink diet due to "keto flu." I know when I first started eating only 1200-1400 calories in preparation for surgery I started being cold and tired all the time, but that is pretty normal for me when I'm eating less. Also, I wanted to go to bed early because I didn't want to eat any more. I don't have trouble getting up in the morning because I'm a morning person, but that's just me. I would give it a few days and see if it gets better, then maybe call your surgery center to see if they have any recommendations. The good news is that most people say they have loads more energy a few months after surgery (once their body recovers!) than they did before surgery.

Just liquids.. no foods allow..only yogurt Jello Popsicles broth and the Protein shakes... I don't know how I will be able to do it.. but I will with God helps..we got this...

You can do it! Physically, you will probably not feel hungry. The Protein fills you up. It's the "mental" hunger that is difficult. All the food commercials, the emotional reasons we eat, etc. THAT is the difficult part, but part of the journey. Have some activities or someone to speak with that can fill the void. Post a pic on your fridge or a reminder about why you are doing this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
