No one can say for sure because there are a lot of factors that go into how much loose skin a person will have after a very large weight loss. But age is on your side, your skin is hopefully still elastic and that should help. And I've never heard anyone who lost a lot of weight complain about the loose skin. Most of us wouldn't trade our new bodies for tighter skin. It'll be okay, one way or another.

^^^ totally agree. I'd take the loose skin any day of the week over being morbidly obese again!!

Same. The loose skin wins over being obese everyday. And there’s always skin removal surgery if it’s excessive, impacts your activity or if you just don’t like it. A lot have it removed but I haven’t but I don’t have that much really & it doesn’t restrict what I can or want to wear.

You do have age in your side - all that lovely, bouncy, elastic skin. How long you’ve been at your highest weight, genetics, all factor into how much loose skin you’ll have too.

Congrats on your surgery.

You can worry about it, but it won't do any good - you will or won't get it to whatever degree that you will. On the positive side, you are young, so elasticity should still be good and things haven't been stretched out for as long as with most of us. You are also "only moderately" morbidly obese, so things haven't likely stretched out as far as someone who was a BMI 50-60 or more. So, there is good hope that things will not be bad in that regard, though you will probably not be left with a perfect bikini bod without some work.

At 5'5" and 240...with good luck, your skin will snap back. At age 18 your chances are terrific (but not guaranteed.) I think about the tiny little 20 year olds I know with huge pregnancies whose skin reduces and looks terrific in months.

I had my surgery done at 46, and was stunned at how well things reduced back into place. I have a few trouble areas, but I don't mind how I look naked at all. I was open to skin surgery, but don't feel I need it.

At 18, I think you're gonna look amazing:) Best wishes.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
