Don't forget why you had the band (Tops List)

From a pre-op'er:

I want to run a marathon someday.

I want to enjoy shopping.

I want to wear cool shoes again and not just cool flip-flops.

I want my energy back.

I want to be able to pull that airplane seat belt tight.

I want to be able to enjoy physical outings on my travel adventures - backpacking in Alaska, zip lining in Costa Rica, hiking on the volcano in HI, etc...

I want my failure to control my food issues to not be the first thing people know about me when they meet me.

I want to shop for clothes with my "normal" sized friend and not spend the whole time picking out things for her because we are not in the plus size section.

I want to be comfortable in my own skin.

I want to be in Europe and not be identified as an American even before I open my mouth because of my weight. (Happened in Paris cuz apparently Americans are always the "fat" ones)

I want to not think about my weight/body size.

I AM more positive since having this procedure because I KNOW this time I will be successful!

I want to get down on the floor with my baby and not worry about not getting back up

I want to be a good role model for my kids and my students.

I want to have the energy to go to the park and PLAY with my kids and not just watch

I want to go to the pool with the kids this summer and actually get in, not sit on the side

I want to play basketball with my son and enjoy it, not just fetch his balls

I want to go on a float trip with my family and them not make stupid comments like "Do you need your own raft? or "You'll sink us."

I want my husband to be able to look at me and say I'm hot now, not just I was hot 15-20 years ago.

I want to go to my 20 year reunion and people to say "Wow, she's not fat anymore."

I want to look in the mirror and say "Wow, I'm not fat anymore!"

I want to be beautiful

Steph

I went hunting for this today....needing some reaffirmations this evening and found it back on page 6. Thought I would bump it right on up to the top for anyone else needing that positive something it gives you.

I want to add

....because I want to feel like a beautiful woman again.

Michelle,

This a beautiful and painful thread. I think I will copy your list and post in somewhere in my kitchen to inspire. It really made me stop think. Looking better will be a nice side affect to being banded. However, the real reasons are the ones you and other banders have stated here. Happiness, Health and less worries (will I fit on a ride at six flags, an airplane, a friends backseat?). Thank you!

Not banded yet but hope to be in April!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
