Bad Day With Food and Tiredness

Recommended Posts

Last week, I was so full of energy and pep and had so much energy that I couldn't sleep at night. This week, I am so very tired, even though I am sleeping at night. I don't know if it's because I walked two miles yesterday but today, I am so tired, taking a nap is all I can think of. I am hitting my Protein and Water goals (fully, 70+g of protein and around 78-80 oz of water) and am taking my Vitamins. However, still tired. Also, everything, and I mean everything that I am eating is hitting wrong in my pouch and making me feel just blah. I am not sure what is going on. Has anyone else had "good" days and then a "bad" day with food before? I've not had anything sit wrong in my pouch before and now, water, tea, protein, etc. is just making me feel like I have a rock in my stomach that is sitting there.

I think it may be because that time on the month is coming up. It’s the only hypothesis I have.

Both fatigue and food not sitting right in your pouch are very common in the first couple months after surgery!! I took naps daily until I was about 3 months out! Also got the foamies quite a few times too.

Hang in there, and with time, it will all get better and your energy will come back!! Best of luck to you!!

Your tummy is a bit like a petulant child in the beginning. Some days it happily plays then the next it’s throwing tantrums. Something you’d been eating successfully suddenly makes you feel unwell or sits like a lump in your tummy. Something you enjoy eating suddenly tastes disgusting.

It does settle just give it time. Your body’s been through a lot with the surgery & reduced calories so I guess it’s understandable that it’s sensitive.

Oh yeah the tiredness. Thankfully that improves too. Just enjoy having nana naps. I loved my afternoon doze on the couch.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
