Stabbing pain on the left side

Recommended Posts

Hello people

I was sleeved on 05.011.2020 (so almost 7 weeks out). The pain started 8 days post op after i was cleaning the house and i was sitting bend for a long time. At firts it was a dull pain but then started progresing in to a sharp, stabbing pain under my left breast, the pain is woresening when i take deep breaths. In the morinings it is not bad, but as the day progreses so does the pain. I am very careful when eating, i am eating slow and i chew my food very well. Since than the pain is constant there is days when it is almost gone but still there and there is days like yesterday i was cring from the pain. I ednded up in the ER three times because i also had (not enymore) chest pains and shoulder pain. I was done a LOT of test: my bloodwork is great, CT scans to the whole abdomen with contrast was great, my X rays was great, my echography also was great. On the X rays there was a lot of gas bubbles in thst area and in my intestine. I called my surgion a lot an he was woried that might be a leak but it is not and nobody seems to know what the problem is. I am desperate at this point because the prescribed pain meds do not work and the injections for pain also do not work.

Has anybody gone through this?

So sorry to hear that. I don't have any answers for you, just wanted to say that I care and I'm sorry for what you're going through. Good luck.

Do you know whether they checked you for a pulmonary embolism when they did the CT? I've many of them because I have a clotting disorder and the pain on taking a deep breath is common with PEs. You're past the point where it would be expected since you're 5 weeks out, but it's worth asking about. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs! 🤗

Hi

Sorry for the late replay, but we were celebrating ortodox cristmas this week :)

Yesterday i was seen by torasic surgeon who also said that there is nothing wrong and also said that the pain might be from the void where the stomach was and to give it time to heal. To be on a safe side shte refered me to a abdominal surgeon on monday maybe, so we will see what he sais.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
