Overate A LOT and feel really sick

Recommended Posts

I just ate a huge lunch without thinking how much it was and I am so sick. I can't throw up and I think I would feel better if I could. I've got the slimeys something awful, my stomach is making horrible noises and I feel like I'm about to have horrible diarreah. I am 1 year post op. Yep...diarhea.

Ugh. I hate that feeling. I never can throw up anymore either... I just get the nasty mucus. I used to throw up pretty regularly before surgery since I am cursed w/migraines which come with nausea & my Migraine med (imitrex) makes me even more sick.. now I can NOT puke, even if I feel like I need to.

The only thing that makes me feel better - is to lay down and sleep/rest... usually subsides in about 2 hours. (Before surgery - when I ate too much.. I'd just be uncomfortable for 15 minutes and be fine). Hope you feel better soon.. Just take it easy for the rest of the day.

Thank you! I almost left work to do just that but I stuck it out and it has finally subsided. I'm sure at some point down the road the same thing will happen again but I am really going to try! Thanks for the support, we have to stick together!!

Oh no! I was wondering if you were at work. I *hate* when I am sick at work... it makes things 100x worse.

I am glad it finally got better and you didn't have to leave.

I wonder why we can no longer throw up anymore? I guess I am off to google that!

When we make a mistake we really pay for it. I guess it’s a way to make sure we don’t forget & don’t, or at least try not to, do it again.

One thing I’ve learnt along this journey is that I’m always learning about my eating habits. I guess what happened to you was an old habit of how you ate when socialising kicked in. Something similar happened to me when I accepted some birthday cake when it was passed to me last week. I had a forkful at my mouth before I remembered. I ended up having two bites of the sponge - it was crazy sweet to me. I was very glad I had no side effects. I just have to make sure that was an exception & I’m not letting an old habit return.

I hope you feel better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
