Starting to freak out!

Recommended Posts

I am seriously starting to freak right now. Hell, I shouldn't even be on here, but I needed to let off some steam and try to relax for a bit. My first comprehensive exam is on Wednesday, I've got another on Thursday, and the third one is next Monday. And guess what? My advisor (who's giving me the exam on Wednesday) isn't returning my emails, so that's adding to the stress! Plus, it's the last two weeks of the semester, I have a shitload of grading to do (y'all know me, I'm a MAJOR procrastinator, so I have half a semester's worth of quizes to grade) and I have to give my class their final exam next week. On top of that, I need to do all my Christmas shopping, and then I need to finish collecting the data for my thesis and start working on getting it all together.

Seriously, I'm about to start gibbering over here. You'd think I'd learn that procrastination is BAD and that it doesn't get me anything but thinning hair, but no. Apparently I need to have it drilled into my head, REPEATEDLY. :speechles

What are the three types of keratin and which one makes up birds' feathers?
Um, alpha, beta.... Beta keratin is in feathers.

In mammals, there are epithelial keratins, hair keratins, and cytokeratins, but that doesn't really apply to birds.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
